Banksy Bolt Cutters Rat, by mrdeano on Mar 31, 2020 18:02:19 GMT 1, This type of post is helpful so thank you for that.
What is a shame is that nothing has been said about the Rat itself?
I too have seen a billion fake Banksys pop up over the years, that when compared to a known original or accepted authentic piece are laughable. Everyone would instantly disregard them, have a giggle about it, shake their heads and move on in life.
Not once has anyone said the Rat does not look right which is the only thing I have to go on. Not once has anyone (even 1970plopper) said the age does not look right either so why belittle someone for asking questions on a public forum? I have not attempted to create some kind of elaborate back story or put it up for sale on here so why all the hate from one particular sad case? I just see that kind of attitude as childish and to be honest, stupid.
I paid a few hundred quid for it... It is what it is and will never be authenticated - I know all that believe me.
Why not discuss the actual Rat?... Is the Rat wrong?... If so, why? That would help.
Its really not hard to be constructive rather than just another keyboard warrior moron type like 1970slopper.

Banksy Bolt Cutters Rat, by avec art on Mar 31, 2020 18:20:24 GMT 1, It's really not hard to make an accurate rat stencil, which is why so many pass through ebay retailing between £10 and £150, so regularly and on wheel clamps and signposts it's a cliché. Isn't there one that turned up on the antiques roadshow that appears to have authenticity as it was photographed in situ before it was stolen. They've been trying and failing to sell that on ebay.

Banksy Bolt Cutters Rat, by darksmile75 on Mar 31, 2020 18:30:49 GMT 1, unfortunately even if this thread reached 50 pages full of advices you would still be unable to sell/claim this work as an authentic Banksy.
Only Pest control could authentify this work. Without them I am afraid you would still end up with a stencil rat on a "road sign" piece.
You should Keep it for you if you trully believe that it is an authentic Banksy.
Good luck.

Isn't there one that turned up on the antiques roadshow that appears to have authenticity as it was photographed in situ before it was stolen. They've been trying and failing to sell that on ebay. If you mean the Grin Reaper on a road sign that was on the antiques road show then I would say that is 100% fake personally. However, unlike others I would back up that statement by saying that its fake because:
a) Ive never seen an original Banksy Grin Reaper at such a tiny size (the original was larger and anyone could gauge the size relatively accurately from images of the placards and street pieces that once existed. b) It is completely different to authentic examples and lacks any detail whatsoever.
The above opinion based response is what I had hoped for in regards my piece, but unfortunately some people prefer to randomly procrastinate or say it cant be real because its on a clamp instead. (same as the Laugh Now Monkey clamp and the Boudica clamp obviously).

In other threads people like 1970slobber tear apart the Rat or whatever image it is and leave everyone in no doubt that its a fake piece of tat... Nobody is doing that with this one though, why? Thanks

Banksy Bolt Cutters Rat, by Fake on Mar 31, 2020 18:56:59 GMT 1, Ok, here are my 10cent's:
In the screenshot below I find it strange there is no paint over the letter L. And it looks like it was done on purpose, but there is no real reason to do that other than to make sure the L will still be readable (for forensics towards DVLA) or that the L would not become part of the stencil. But why would Banksy do that? (Only a forger would think to do that)
In this screenshot I can see that the fading is done by sanding-paper. You can even see some circular scratches that look like sandpaper caused it. (I am sort of an expert on sanding now very carefully restoring some chairs from 1963)
So, Fake says fake ;-)

Banksy Bolt Cutters Rat, by mrdeano on Mar 31, 2020 19:13:46 GMT 1, Hi FAKE, The DVLA lettering on the clamp is hollow (cut out) they are not solid letters. The scratches may very well be a sign of making it look old I agree. Thanks, this was what I was hoping for from other collectors and people in the know.

Honestly, its like trying to communicate with a butternut squash, trying to engage in conversation with some of you lot. No offense to you or G.U.N., but his comments are about all you will get as a newb looking for help from some around here. Entering into a conversation to get trolled is what they want. Why? Who knows. I think FAKE offered u the most sound advise that you’ll find. Which was really cool to see as I like FAKE’s stuff and he most likely nailed it. Don’t fret over the trolling. It’s not you. 😉 There is a block feature if u need to cut folks off. I don’t use it, but I can understand why it’s there. Ive had my account since 2012 although I appreciate I don't usually get too involved as the negativity puts me off to be honest. I usually just watch from a safe distance haha!
I think the one person is still mad at me because I said his Mom stinks thats all.
I respect FAKEs opinion and his reasoning makes sense... That was all I was hoping for from others too but the odd sad case stuck in isolation tries to ruin it.

Banksy Bolt Cutters Rat, by LJCal on Mar 31, 2020 20:28:42 GMT 1, I remember a Heavy Weaponry supposedly original piece, I still think is pretty dubious, it keeps popping up every few years. But the cartoon heavy weaponry elephant caught a few of us ignoramuses out. I know better now. Anyone know anything about "banksy_originals" -- they've been active on eBay for a while and have some unusual pieces listed right now ... real thing or too good to be true? Complete frauds, avoid

Banksy Bolt Cutters Rat, by LJCal on Mar 31, 2020 20:38:03 GMT 1, I’ve yet to see any street signs that aren’t fake, and even if by some very slim chance they were executed by Banksy it’s impossible to prove so may as well be fake. They are decorative pieces with nominal value and I urge anyone not to pay more than a few pounds for these as they are in the style of Banksy and have no investment value.

Even assuming you bought this in innocence, this is not the Antiques Roadshow. You have a fake. You know you have a fake. Some people were unnecessarily rude to you. That’s the internet. If it helps even the score, I think you are devastatingly handsome and demonstrate a confidence that shows you are a generous and considerate lover. OK? Kiss 💋

My next point of interest would be to question why someone who believes they have an original Banksy piece be happy to let it go for the princely sum of £1,500. Hahaha... Are you seriously still going on? Get a life

Honestly, its like trying to communicate with a butternut squash, trying to engage in conversation with some of you lot. My next point of interest would be to question why someone who believes they have an original Banksy piece be happy to let it go for the princely sum of £1,500. Hahaha... Are you seriously still going on? Get a life

Banksy Bolt Cutters Rat, by mrdeano on Apr 1, 2020 15:13:52 GMT 1, Hahaha... Are you seriously still going on? Get a life You asked me, yes, you, to ‘elaborate on reasoning my conclusion’. I answered with what I’d previously written. If you don’t like answers, don’t ask questions. Everyone pretty much agreed to scrap the thread over 16 hours ago!
You have nothing to apologise about, don't worry about it.
Its an internet forum... Its full of strange people and mindless opinions.

And the occasional shìtehawk like you trying to con members into buying their fakes. God you are probably boring everybody now fella, not just me!

Banksy Bolt Cutters Rat, by bestdj777 on Apr 1, 2020 15:25:14 GMT 1, It’s not real because it is not clever or well executed like Banksy’s work is usually. The rat is sprayed over something and isn’t cutting anything. It makes no sense. If he were designing a rat for a car thing, he’d have it cutting the lock, not just chilling on it. Bansky cares about placement, and this doesn’t reflect any concern for placement.

I just saw it as a Rat with a pair of bolt cutters being on a clamp with a heavy duty chain that would have required a pair of bolt cutters to remove as the placement element. Thats what I thought when I bought it anyway. Thanks

Banksy Bolt Cutters Rat, by mrdeano on Apr 1, 2020 15:32:51 GMT 1, God you are probably boring everybody now fella, not just me! I’ve spent a good deal of the past 16 years ‘boring’ people by exposing sociopathic Banksy fraudsters such as yourself. I’m not about to stop now. Everybody needs a hobby God. That sounds much more fun than occupying your time with something typically dull such as record collecting etc.

Banksy Bolt Cutters Rat, by Nordicstar on Apr 1, 2020 15:52:18 GMT 1, Smells ok, I guess, but you seem to know the deal, you can’t sell it.
I take this back. My nose must have been clogged. This smells bad.
