Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by frezza on Jul 1, 2020 13:15:02 GMT 1, Given the situation over there I suspect he had little choice but to take a punt on buying it all rather than run the risk of it being successful then face questions regarding why he hadn’t snapped it all up. I suspect the same thing would happen in most countries to be fair as its more important for a leader to look after his/her country than the rest of the world sadly. As an aside it would probably would make some interesting research into who benefits from the sale further up the chain.

The bigger picture is it would be in America’s best interest to be on a level playing field , they can not sustain and trade within their country alone , the longer the world is on lockdown and restrictions the greater it will effect America’s economy ,already in trade disputes with China which America relies heavily upon although not presented to the media that way and relies upon trade with the eu which is down due to restrictions and staff sickness effecting business.

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by That Print Guy on Jul 1, 2020 14:47:16 GMT 1, There is a cheap treatment now that reduces chance of death by a third. So infection rate maybe up but less will die. Making this far less deadly. Possibly same as the flu? Covid is over. Huge mess to clean up. But it’s over. lol "it's over", did we find Trump's UAA account?

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by mojo on Jul 5, 2020 13:43:30 GMT 1, Excellent work by Led By Donkeys.
Also worth remembering while cheering in genuine gratitude to all the NHS staff and everything that the NHS stands for that this government has spent the past 10 years destroying it.

And what is happening to address these shortfalls? Nothing Looks like a bleak Xmas ahead unless something drastically changes

Mentioned months ago animal infections, if confirmed many may start dumping pets , cats would be the greatest risk
A vaccine for humans would Only be A temporary Fix ,if the virus is spreading through many different animal species already , and each time the virus jumps species to a new host the virus will mutate And the present vaccine developed may be useless . May be with out this pandemic overpopulation would be a problem in a couple of decades so maybe it keeps a balance

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by Fast Eddie on Jul 26, 2020 13:27:49 GMT 1, Going back to the title of the thread, it seems the following has happened during COVID. Wealthier individuals have increased their saving substantially during the pandemic. This sudden saving glut has supported not just the stock market, but a strong demand for investment-grade artists like Banksy and Invader. (Savings have to be invested somehow.) Not all artists have benefited from this higher demand because simply not safe enough as an investment. I think this is about it...

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by irl1 on Aug 2, 2020 14:34:31 GMT 1, I feel like this is as good a place as any to post... I wish you all good health, please stay safe. Please stay distant from one another, please wash your hands, please wear masks regardless of what your government says. Please take this seriously. It's serious. I also hope you all stay employed, many of us are in for some financial difficulties soon if not now. Beyond trying to keep my business afloat, I'm on the board of our co-op/apartment building so there is quite a lot for us all to do here trying to keep all of the residents safe and essential services working. It's why I haven't been around a bunch lately and probably won't be for a while. Please keep yourselves safe and I'll see you all soon (ish). xo Missed hope all is well

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by Jaylove on Aug 17, 2020 11:50:29 GMT 1, Figured there would be Covid related discounts on art but seems like the opposite has happened. I think if there is another lockdown prices will come down. There would be more white collar job loss. Seems most of the affected have been entry level service and hospitality jobs. Let’s be real, they’re not spending thousands on art.

Xmas will be the tipping point for the surge in cases of covid 19 , mass gatherings at Xmas ,cross contamination in homes , flu virus introduced , January and February will see a reduction in service industries and the economy will take a big hit . Note if looking for a new car wait until february🤐
