POW - licence to print money...., by kingdomcome on Mar 29, 2007 18:08:24 GMT 1, POW ARE a joke as someone posted earlier....
Oooh the irony, everybody going mad for a Banksy print today that mocks people who buy any old shit. You hit the nail on the head there mate.
Just before Christmas hundreds of people cued up to try and get a Micallef Judgement Day and of course some poor bastards at the back didnt get one. Oh well, hard luck.
Then, what do you see on the POW website a few weeks later!!
''Due to an office tidy up we found some spares!''
Well done, so what about the people that bought 1-500 (assuming that it is Judgement Day) is there now 1-513 print run?... the suspense is killing me......
Will the people at the back of the cue get one now? Of course not!! Instead a vague message will be posted on the website...A bit like today.
Why werent we told what price the Banksy prints would be? Why the cloak and dagger lets build the suspense approach....You wouldnt buy a car without checking out the spec would you? Evidently we would....
......bad business practice, run by people who just want to line their pockets until this little bubble pops.....
Today, I get an email telling me there are new Banksy prints online...Great! Ill get one! Why didnt I get a mail when the FAILE ones went on a few weeks ago? I know why, cos if we continue to generate enough hype around Bansky we'll continue to line our pockets!
Why did Channel 4 do a new piece about the Ghetto the day before the Judgement Day sale? I wonder.....
All fakes, promoting anti this and anti that, but lets be honest...not really interested in that, just interested in making a quick buck....a corporate company just like any other
Good luck to them, it would take the courage of some of the artist to move away from POW to enable these fat cats to get down from their paper towers...
But that isnt going to happen is it...when your onto a winner, why would you?
Im not having a go at anyone who buys this work and this isnt sour grapes....just something I wanted to get off my chest thats been bugging me for a while...
Adios...

POW - licence to print money...., by adrscib on Mar 29, 2007 18:29:45 GMT 1, 1000 prints at an average price of 500gbp is equal that today they've made over half a million in turnover, and banksy will have earned around 100k thanks to us morons!!!!!

Er... yes... is that not the whole point of running a business?
I guess you didn't get a print today.
I wonder if you would have posted the same message had you been successful?

POW - licence to print money...., by kingdomcome on Mar 30, 2007 10:05:03 GMT 1, hi guys, thanks for your replies...
Firstly, Im not 'hiding' behind a new ID. Its just I have never been compelled to write on the forum before.
Secondly, yes of I would have posted this had I got a Banksy yesterday. Ive been fortunate enough to have got hold prints in the past and have noticed and dealt with POW inconsitent business dealings BEFORE yesterday.
Thirdly, yes I know POW are running a business. My point is, that is if you are running a business then run one properly.
1. Why not give buyers full details etc ie costs, print sizes etc BEFORE the sale starts. After all, we are spending our hard earned money on this stuff. We should surely be FULLY aware of what we are buying beforehand. Evidently not.....
2. Dont be fooled into thinking some of the 'scalpers' that fuel this price hike dont work within the walls of POW.
How many went to their friends, which end up on ebay? How many were really printed?
Has anyone ever bought popular prints say in the number range 1-20? (if you have, it would be interesting to know....)
How many Banksys will be 'lying around the office' as we speak....Wonder where they end up??
My issue is if your runnning a business then please run it properly. If you consider yourself to be a pro art dealer then act like one.....
People are spending alot of time and money on these things, please dont run it like a school project and insult the people that line your pockets....
