As to the recent Paddle8 auction mentioned in the original post, I printed the auction page about a minute before its close. At that time, Eine's Love had one bid of $800; Baker's Universal Principle had three bids with a high of $3050; Baker's Unfathomable Distance had two bids with a high of $2,850; and Baker's Forms that Don't had one bid of $1,500.

That's what I last saw as well (plus the 20% buyer premium I believe).

Nothing, huh? I'd like to know as well. I followed this auction up until about 90 minutes before the end (after midnight Tokyo time).

The aqua (?) CYW was still at $25,000 USD with 3 bids if I recall. Not sure if Paddle8 is all about the last few minutes (seconds!) like eBay, or if that would be close to the final price.

Be so helpful if P8 would post Realized Prices as do more established auction houses.

(Thought I saw a Grey CYW finish at Sotheby's recently for $15,000 USD including Buyer's Premium. If I got that right seems much lower than a lot of the FS prices I've seen on the forum.)

Last one I know of sold for $13k but that was a year ago. If this one goes anywhere near it's current price it is an absolute steal. Like the Haring original a lot as well.

Did anyone see where they ended? I was watching, but the only one that confused me was Sale Ends.

Seemed to shake out as follows:

Soupcan - $6,000
Sale Ends - $8,000 up until the last 30 seconds and then back to $7,500
Monkey Queen - $4,800 (did not hit reserve)
Donuts (Chocolate) - $18,000
Turf War - $6,000

Are auction results from there meant to be taken seriously? Saw in another thread that they were, so I figured I'd ax. Seems to me every end price I ever take notice of is just ridiculous. Jawns going for 5x the price they could easily be bought elsewhere for.

Thoughts?

you cant, unless you are watching right at the end. A bit of a flaw with their model IMO, that all lots finish at the same time, especially if you are interested in bidding on more than one item...

I don't really take the results very seriously. I find certain items sell there for more than they would anywhere else. Perfect hype tool as well, as the results are difficult to verify.

Wow did anyone else see that KAWS Vader go for at least 5.5k? insane bidding war. went up almost 2k in the last minute. Someone might have got a killer deal on a woodstock & Joe Kaws almost touches 2k. 

I'd have to say the most surprising item in this auction was the Tokion Poster. I emailed paddle 8 and they could not provide any COA or provenance. As this is by far the most booted Kaws image, there is a distinct possibility that they just sold a fake print for over 1k. Here was their reply:

Personally, I know many people who've had positive experiences selling on P8, and I've had positive experiences buying on there. I've also enquired on pieces and received quick and helpful feedback.

Yes, they chandelier bid. But they're also clear about that in their T&C's. And they're certainly not the only ones.

So yeah, there's the other side of the coin.

And you can bet if you ever buy something fake you will never have an issue returning.

The real travesty are the buyers who are paying this type of money for Kaws figures won't be able to tell the difference between a fake and real vader, Fett, or storm trooper, since they all have pretty much identical replicas.
