It's a tricky one as dirt can be professionally removed but it's knowing the difference between dirt and damage...

There were several damages on this. The dirt could maybe have been fixed, but there was also a dent in the paper that is much harder to fix. And the position of both these flaws was so close to the image so you aren't able to hide underneath a pp.

Paddle8 Auctions πΊπ² BANKRUPT , by campfire headphase on Nov 21, 2019 3:57:33 GMT 1, Not surprised. Paddle 8 is a crap auction house. Some (not all) of the works should go to better houses like Sothebyβs Christieβs et all. In many cases, there is only 1 bid - usually by the house to meet the reserve.
All of these are throw away comps. The lackluster results isnβt the artβs fault, the onus lays in the lap of this joke auction house.

I guess it should be pretty easy picking up a canvas from his shows from now on.

Paddle8 Auctions πΊπ² BANKRUPT , by jimmyjam on Nov 21, 2019 13:59:27 GMT 1, Harland Miller also had zero sales. Two book set (blue and pink) and the large In the Shadows I Boogie Print did not sell.
Pejac, Javier Calleja, Oli Epp, and for me Harland Miller, are artists to avoid paying extreme prices for; especially during a market downturn right now. Right now these are the artists you should be getting dirt cheap prices for. Anyone spending top dollars, at their shows right now, will not be happy with the results for a bit; but buy what you like people say on this site so do that...
The Javier had only one bid, could be the owner, after fees the seller didn't make very much at all. I would almost have to a say the Javier's sale is even questionable.
This auction was not a good sign for any of these artists. This was one auction, so maybe it's just a bad one/season or this is the beginning where we see overpriced and overhyped artists on UAA just get totally crushed by the actual art market outside this forum. I think the later will happen.
I have notice a lot of the people, who really hyped these artists a few years ago, have already sold off these artists and used the money to buy more blue chip and safer artist to invest in.... You really need to be careful with the hype on this particular site.

Paddle8 Auctions πΊπ² BANKRUPT , by Eton Groover on Nov 21, 2019 14:31:15 GMT 1, Everyone says buy what you like but most people on here buy what they think will be a sound investment, be that short or long term. Most of the pictures we see on our screens are just the equivalent of pretty share certificates to their owners, but with the added advantage of being completely unregulated. A lot of the hype is self serving. People genuinely want to get excited about an artist so this becomes a self fulfilling prophecy until everyone gets a bit bored of the lack of "direction", "new direction", "lack of shows", "poor managment" etc to fullfil their demand for new and exciting. Warhol wouldn't have lasted two minutes on here! "Where is his development?" they would all cry. It is all a bubble and has been going on for years on here. The artists you mentioned above will be in worthless portfolios along with Adam Neate, Micallef, Nick Walker, Dface, Faile, to name but a few in the years to come. Very little of what we see will genuinely stand the test of time. It is art for those with the attention spans of gnats.
