Anything new this week POW??? WC 26th February, by monkeypuzzle on Feb 27, 2007 17:34:08 GMT 1, Agreed.... how hard is it to get their act together and say.... The release date for the next print is next Monday - 5th March at approximately 11.00am One per customer only I understand with the Micallefs that there was no point releasing a date seeing as there were only a few available but anything over 100 prints should be given a date and time. Also do POW not realise they are sitting on a cash pot of just under £100,000 per print. I prefer the unannounced arrival of a print, it stopps hundreds of scalping idiots refreshing 24 hours a day waiting on that special day for the new banksy, at least if its done on the QT some fans might get a chance to buy one at cost price before the hoards of print locusts decend and buy anything with some ink on it. POW have nevr asked anyone to sit and refresh all day every day, and they certainly dont owe anyone an explanation / release time and date, they cant win, if they dont release a print everyone moans about how cr@p they are, if they do release a print everyone moans that they missed it, this would only get worse if they announced the release date.

Anything new this week POW??? WC 26th February, by monochrome on Feb 27, 2007 17:34:15 GMT 1, I'm not too annoyed with POW for not giving out a date for Banksy releases just yet, but what I do dislike is vague information. I think we'd all be happy if they made solid announcements about a week before an event, how hard can that be?
so people can form an orderly queue, perhaps bring a sleeping bag and sit outside like some sad retard waiting for Henman on centre court...

sure people might miss out and moan a little that they didnt get one but they will get over it.
but imagine if they just put a banksy up and you came home from work or wherever and they were all gone - just because POW put them on the qt!
I for one would be more pissed off to miss out because they didnt tell me than miss out because they told me and i had to compete with 3000 people!

Anything new this week POW??? WC 26th February, by bombshelter on Feb 27, 2007 17:45:55 GMT 1, im all up for unanounced arrival of prints, POW should take a look how obey sells prints.
Due to the recent rise in number of OBEY prints found on EBAY we are reducing the amount of prints per household/customer to 1 from here on out. If there is one thing that bothers us worse than lazy complaint emails is the EBAY market. We have tried our best to hold on to the 2 limit policy for our true collectors but it seems like a portion of the "collectors" buying our prints are EBAYing everything they purchase. Shepard and the rest of us are overwhelmed by the stories we hear about how much people are paying for prints on EBAY the same day as they are released on our site. With this new limit we hope to increase the chance of everyone getting an equal shot at a print on Tuesdays, despite the increase in overhead and work we ultimately will take on. Nonetheless, we hope this helps some of our true fans... But be forewarned that if we find out who these compulsive EBAYers are we will have no reservations in banning them from future OBEY purchases. Thanks for all those that have stuck it out these last couple of months!

Anything new this week POW??? WC 26th February, by monochrome on Feb 27, 2007 17:47:48 GMT 1, perhaps POW are mulling over releasing close to £250,000 worth of prints with a street value of £750,000...
or perhaps POW are still thinking of a fair lottery system to distribute prints so that the likes of musicmedium and all the other sleeping bag carrying fucks don't get their mits on anymore prints...ie. they can be removed from any lottery for effectively touting.
or you can all click refresh all day and night

Anything new this week POW??? WC 26th February, by absyrd on Feb 27, 2007 17:53:27 GMT 1, Come on, are you relaxed? I bet you're checking here and on the POW site loads of times a day and you're not the only one. I'd rather half an hour of chaos than weeks or even months of uncertainty.
I am relaxed, and I check quite a few times a day. Weeks I can handle. They've only been back up for what? 3 weeks total? And in that 3 weeks, there were 2 warnings on the news page of when stuff was coming out. I could see myself getting bothered if it did move onto months, though.
I'm saying an EXACT date and time isn't necessarily the right thing. I'm not opposed to more communication.

It has been months.
I can see you joined this forum in Feb 07, but I'm sure you're aware of the older posts, this has been going on since the end of October, here's what POW said in an email dated 26th October 2006.
BANKSY
We’re now releasing the first of the six Banksy L.A. prints. We weren’t going to bother but apparently a few of you might be interested.
THE GRANNIES – They say youth is wasted on the young, but sitting on your arse all day eating mints and watching telly seems wasted on the elderly. Here’s a picture of two old dears knitting themselves a sweater.
We’re putting all six images up on the site so you can see what’s coming and won’t spend all your pocketmoney on the first one you see. The second print (trolley hunting) will follow as soon as we’ve cleared the backlog from the first one and so on and will be staggered from now until Christmas.

Anything new this week POW??? Thanks for all those that have stuck it out these last couple of months!
People may not like this, but it's true:
In a way I agree to what they are saying, but do they not realise that it IS eBay that creates a great deal of the market for the prints (the hype etc)
Would Banksy be as big today without the secondary eBay market? Would a lot of the people dying for the next Banksy print be in the position they are now if the prints weren't worth so much? I doubt it on both counts.
If Obey do this I think their market will shrink drastically - and with their stupid (in my opinion) policy of releasing a print (or prints - I don't like much by Obey so I don't pay a whole lot of attention really) every week they're going to be left with a lot left over.
It's eBay that has (to a greater or lesser extent) made a lot of the artists we discuss on here and taking that integral cog away could only be a bad thing in the long run.
Who here has bought a Banksy print on eBay? I know I have. Would you want the opportunity to purchase taken away from you?

why don't you put pen to paper, drop them a line, bang on their customer support desk and demand (as a customer) that you want to know.
it would be fair to ask rather than constantly whinge about how BAD and EVIL they are for not telling you.
also, we're all in the same boat so live with it

Anything new this week POW??? WC 26th February, by corblimeylimey on Feb 27, 2007 18:14:35 GMT 1, Agreed.... how hard is it to get their act together and say....
The grannies annoucement was in an email that was sent the same time they went on the site, it caught loads of people by surprise and lots missed out, just look at the posts here on that day, people came back from work and realised it was all over, that's why everyone now is constantly checking.

Anything new this week POW??? WC 26th February, by tranceport185 on Feb 27, 2007 18:15:26 GMT 1, Dora did tell me though that were supposed to send out something regarding how the LA prints would be distributed. This was a while back Feb 5th ish but she did seem "somewhat" certain something was going out to the newsletter subscribers. Not that its a big help but just the fact she said that made me think something might be differnt with the distrabution of LA prints. Backing up the lottery idea

Not that its a big help but just the fact she said that made me think something might be differnt with the distrabution of LA prints. Backing up the lottery idea

Anything new this week POW??? WC 26th February, by corblimeylimey on Feb 27, 2007 18:16:35 GMT 1, No word on the lottery, that's just another vague POW annoucement. why don't you put pen to paper, drop them a line, bang on their customer support desk and demand (as a customer) that you want to know. it would be fair to ask rather than constantly whinge about how BAD and EVIL they are for not telling you. also, we're all in the same boat so live with it
I never said they were EVIL but I will say they're incompetent.

There was another part to their email annoucement of Grannies.
"Or sometime next August if you keep on calling up day and night. All orders have to be made through the website as the system’s fully automated now. Please don’t try and order them over the phone, the computer actually enjoys doing this stuff, you know."
So who's been calling up day and night? it could go on until August.
