CND Soldiers sold out at POW!, by mido on Mar 23, 2006 22:46:51 GMT 1, I just noticed that CND Soldiers is now listed as sold out!
I officially own my first sold out banksy now - feels weird. never thought it would happen. ;D
bit surprised. I LOVE the image and message, but shame it's on creamy coloured paper, rather than bright white. And when I got my unsigned copy in late jan (barely 7 weeks ago) there were probably about 200 copies left. Wow, they sell fast.

CND Soldiers sold out at POW!, by mido on Mar 24, 2006 10:32:03 GMT 1, I'm surprised that the Jack & Jill print has not sold out before CND Soldiers I think the release dates were only a few weeks apart and I would say Jack & Jill is a bit more popular
I was a bit late to discover the POW site but CND soldiers must have been up there a considerable bit before J&J. CND was Dec wasn't it? J&J was late jan I think - it was the first new signed one I could have got but didn't coz I wasn't sure I liked the print - little did I know that banksy activity / buying was going crazy at that point!! I did finally get order an unsigned one after seeing it 'in the flesh' at the POW office. still can't understand why many people are obsessed with signed copies!
Judging on the numbers of some unsigned ones already on ebay I assume J&J must be very close to selling out. I have been expecting to see the 'sold out' sign for a while now - I think a lot of people seem to like it more than CND, which still does JUST play a part in people's Banksy buying (Mary has bombed! LOL. Napalm is a great idea, and I fought the law is a great print, but neither have sold out - because people don't like them as much I think). It's not just all about money....yet.....
Seems weird trying to look into the future (I wonder what people thought 2 years ago?) but I think all these will sell out sooner or later (mainly sooner) as there is very little that newbies can get at cost price..... and older ones are pretty unaffordable to most of us unless we see them only as investment opportunities

CND Soldiers sold out at POW!, by Daniel Silk on Mar 24, 2006 13:28:07 GMT 1, It must have been about three years ago now that I first got a Banksy picture, and at that time it seemed that a print could be on the POW for well over a year before it finally sold out. Now its normal for a print to only be available for 4-5 months before people are rushing around trying to get that last one on the shelf at POW
Yep, its clear that people are only buying what they really like. Virgin Mary must be the slowest seller out of all the Banksy Pictures?

CND Soldiers sold out at POW!, by guerillaart on Mar 24, 2006 22:01:26 GMT 1, You have to remember that the reason why prints like 'I Fought The Law' & 'Napalm' haven't sold out yet is because there are far more numbered copies available. J&J and CND are both numbered editions of 350, where as Napalm & Law are either 500 or 600 copies. People are always far more interested in signed prints by any artist as historically they are worth between 3 & 5 times more than numbered prints. Signed prints have the artists writing on them and are therefore more personal, a lot of the time the artist will not have even numbered the prints himself and so a numbered print does not have that personal touch.

what a load of guff though. a little signature is meanless in my book. it's the print and the message / art that matters.
Also, banksy's sign is poor and in pencil. At least 3d's makes the print come alive. thick black pen. that's the way to do it
