Bbay, The approved used Banksy dealership, by lukas01 on Nov 20, 2023 22:18:05 GMT 1, Banksy creates hope and wealth. How many have emerged from failure, from poverty, from the normal life of each of us with economic ups and downs, and how many have filled a void, had the chance to realize a dream or even think about the birth of their own child? I don't know who Banksy could be. Whether it could be a boy or a girl. If it can be a solo artist or a group of friends or a group of artists. I can only say that what he created should generate gratitude in the people who are touched by this extraordinary event. I hope that sooner or later he pops back in there, and that Bbay can help others further as he always has. Banksy's Pest Control works. If it's slow it means you have to go slowly. If you want to run your dream you only half enjoy it.

I haven't posted much in a long time and don't pay attention to anything on here outside Banksy but i do read any Banksy related posts/comments on UAA each day. Its great to see support for the artist and i know you mean well championing the cause but I can assure you Pest Control does not work, it used to, its not doin the artist any favours at all. A truer message would be 'the new staff haven't a clue what they're doing, everyone keep your fingers crossed they get their shit together'. The idea of 'trust PC, they know what they're doing' couldn't be further from the truth. Nowadays the negative impact the current staff have heavily outweighs any positives they bring to the table. Its a destructive organisation, purely because of staffing, the concepts still fantastic, if it functions well with the right people doing the right jobs. As it stands, its a group of unqualified, inexperienced people having a go at captaining the Titanic, before they've even had a go sailing a yacht, a sail boat or even a row boat. Theres only 2 viable outcomes for PC. Either the artist steps in and makes the decision to bring in the right support so PC can operate at a level that is positive for the artist/market(this is best case scenario, most involved in the market would support this) or PC shut down. The current scenario of PC hanging around pretending they know what we're doing and increasingly fucking things up, isn't a viable long term option for an investible Banksy market that serious investor/collectors will be tempted by. Lawsuits are stacking up non publicly, with most of the issues being caused by PCs poor decision making. A sensible phone call could solve most of these issues.
The plus side is, PC are just staff, they are a replaceable. The artists part of history. Hopefully, the artist steps in at some point, sooner rather than later and employs a proper director to direct so PC can become the solution to problems rather than creator it has been in recent years. My gut feeling is PC will crumble as the shit pile increases around them. It would be a shame to see such a good concept be wasted but closing PC would be the best option if they continue much longer in the same vein.

Congratulations, you have some beautiful canvases on display.
Returning to Pest Control, I can only allow myself to talk about my personal experiences. I contacted the office four times. I contacted them twice to find out if what I had bought had any connection with Banksy and if they were his works. They responded to me relatively quickly. After four weeks I received an email from them, in which unfortunately they informed me that those works were not by Banksy but only reproductions. Obviously I spent a few dozen euros, and I bought them only because I like Banksy's works. The other two times I contacted them during the Banksy exhibition in Glasgow. Once for the stickers and to find out if they were original. A second time for the jacket button (not original). On both occasions they were quick and friendly in responding.
I have never had to deal with them for a certificate. So I can't talk about it. We hope that the staff will increase in number of work units and will be able to carry out the service even better. Good day.

It doesn't surprise me there are claims being made, what's surprising is that one of the Directors is Mark Stephens the founder of Howard Kennedy and a pretty serious lawyer. I'm surprised he's letting things go the way they are and remaining a director, it's obviously a potential liability for him. I heard about the situation where they reported an elderly couple to the police who had a duplicate number of a print that was registered as stolen, it was completely outrageous and I hope the couple go after Pest Control for negligence and potentially defamation. Do you know of any other claims in general terms?

Do you know of any other claims in general terms? Yes i've heard of a few, there would be a lot more but for the legal costs, PC will drag any case out as long as possible i would imagine. The ones i have heard of could have been sorted in 5 mins, such a waste of time and energy. I cc'd Mark into the majority of the emails with the other directors etc, as well as reaching out via his PA highlighting worries ie if PC dont make changes they'll only bring mounting headaches and legal battles the artists way. Marks a legal guy though, hes prob in his element. For me the legal team of Banksy is a bit too front and centre of brand Banksy.

Yes i've heard of a few, there would be a lot more but for the legal costs, PC will drag any case out as long as possible i would imagine. The ones i have heard of could have been sorted in 5 mins, such a waste of time and energy. I cc'd Mark into the majority of the emails with the other directors etc, as well as reaching out via his PA highlighting worries ie if PC dont make changes they'll only bring mounting headaches and legal battles the artists way. Marks a legal guy though, hes prob in his element. For me the legal team of Banksy is a bit too front and centre of brand Banksy.

Terrible service, uncommunicative, arrogant attitude and from what I hear increasingly aggressive. Given the fact they are there to provide a service to an artist they need to sort their act out. It’s pathetic, who do they think they are?

I'm sure their service to Banksy is impeccable - they're called 'Pest Control' after all.

Hi Jules Leotard. Marketing the Banksy brand without Banksy would be madness. The judges should know that that mark is present on many works sold by the artist. In Italy for example, as in other parts of Europe and the world, justice does not work. The Law is one, but the interpretations are hundreds of thousands of millions. Judges don't do their job and duty. 99% of these are politicised, i.e. linked to banks, insurance companies, pharmaceutical groups and power groups.
Sooner or later there will be a global uprising. It will no longer be white against black. It will no longer be Muslims against Christians. But it will be the common people against the power groups. The Third World War will create this element of social imbalance. As Albert Einstein said, we don't know with what weapons the Third World War will be fought. But the next one will be fought with sticks.
Obviously in 50 years only sticks will be needed. Nuclear and modern weapons only serve power.

Am I correct in thinking that AG from FCB sold the copyright of one of the UK's most populer Artists ie.Banksy without any connection to the artist or permission to do so to GUESS, they made a collection of fluffy clothes and cheap looking handbags and even used another artists work (Queen/Bowie) without permission that was mistaken for Banksy's work. Then Guess didn't like it when Banksy expressed his dissaproval and invited his followers to do to Guess what they had done to Banksy. Shouldn't the court case be between AG & Guess since AG didn't have any right to sell the images for commercial use, or any use and Guess were scammed? How can AG seriously even consider that Banksy damaged his 'brand', he doesn't have one. I can't believe the total stupidity of it. He's a parasite that sells other peoples work by turning it into commercial tat and claiming some kind of fantasist right to do so.

My post was written tongue-in-cheek. While Lroy kicked this thread off and is in general 100% reliable, I have a hard time believing that Bbay is going to come to fruition (a thing that would be too good to be true). That said, I don't understand how Bbay would benefit the "true believer" fanbase as I expect it would involve bidding and guess what, that would drive prices up and out of reach for those of us who are mere mortals. Early adopters/ Lighthouse customers will benefit by having a 100% PC/ Banksy endorsed venue to peddle their wares. Banksy will benefit as he will be able to collect his Artist Resale Royalties. Normal people won't be getting any access to affordable Banksy products, so I am not so clear as why there would be general excitement other than if you buy a print for GBP 20K, it is 100% cleared by PC as authentic.
I've never understood all the whinging about PC. Some of these people/ you folks bought prints for 50, 75, 300, 500 GBP that have appreciated in value to that of a house. Yet you expect a small tribe of yocals to cleanly and efficiently track the provenance of the aforementioned petty cash sale. That's a tough one. There is validity, but my expectations would be pretty low. I'm sure PC tries their hardest, but I would guess the vast majority of COA applications give PC the fits. "Oh look, we have 80 hours invested in confirming this is one of the screenprints we sold for 50 GBP." The economics of PC issuing COAs don't make a lot of sense (unless of course the person moves straight on to selling it).

Bbay, The approved used Banksy dealership, by Jules Leotard on Nov 23, 2023 7:39:25 GMT 1, I wonder : in these 3 iconic BANKSY pieces which one is your preffered ? The tenner ( my dream, but I have been swindled by a fake on eBay for 540£ 12 years ago) The bootleg CD of Paris Hilton The Welcome Mat Sheesh, Welcome Mat, hands down. The historical and current relevance. The dark irony. Tenner and CD are fluff pieces. Fantastically fun, but light and amusing.
The Welcome Mat is so layered. If one didn't really understand it, you might have a laugh at it. At the end of the day, it's painfully simple, but a parallel statement to Picasso's 'Guernica'. The beauty of Welcome Mat is that it seems like it should be taken at face value/ easily understood. In my opinion, it is a bit of an IQ test and test of one's humanity.
You either 'get it' or you don't (and it's not your fault if you don't, but if you own one someday you might be sitting there looking at it, while skimming the news, and have a beautiful soul-affirming epiphany).

I agree with every word of your post save the 'global uprising' section. I think the vast majority of people, when they aren't compelled by a government, remain peaceful to a fault. It isn't apathy that restrains them. It is hope. Hope that it will get better, that there aren't 'that many' petty tyrants. Hope that 'we will get through this.' It's funny (in a not funny way), but the day the world runs out of energy resources...it will be a good day for the planet. I think cars, motorcycles, and planes are amazing feats of engineering, but I will always have to concede that if the gas engine/ electric motor hadn't been invented, it may not have been a tragedy. It's harder to bomb someone (and less frequent) when you have to drag a canon and equipment behind a horse and set it up. The efficiency of a campaign is completely out the window.
I hope you and yours are well!

The vast majority of original owners artworks have been sold over the last 20 years, the majority of works owned currently were purchased for fairly large sums. PC sell primary works for up to and over a million, it makes complete sense they look after the overall market, otherwise primary prices slide. The dont have to sell expensive artworks, they choose to. A main purpose of PC is to issue coas to verify the legitimacy of the artwork so that it can be resold. Thats their responsibility. Setting up 'Keep it real' and telling people not to buy unless its verified, but then not replying/verifying or it taking months means sales fall through. Do that enough times and you have a volume of extra available works. Their decision making effects everyone, including the artist/charities. They're rattling collectors with their decisions and indecision. Some think PC are controlling the market by holding back coas etc, thats not it. They're just a mess. Its great that they're quick to reply regarding fakes without coas and about show stickers but they really need to reply to Keep it Real as well, its kinda important too.
