Shepard Fairey • Obama Prints, by Michael Jacob on Mar 13, 2008 20:32:51 GMT 1, Ok, this is a little off topic. I was back at the Obama site looking at Sheps work. I see its in the "artists for obama" section. That would lead one to believe more art from different artists is on the horizon. Having said that, Ive got an idea for Damien Hirst. Ive always wanted a LSD or Opium print, but cant find one I can afford. Here my concept, now all we need to do is get Damien to do it (which im sure he wont ! Anyway, if elected, Obama would be the 44th President of the United States. CrAZy JakE

Shepard Fairey • Obama Prints, by army1 on Mar 14, 2008 5:25:08 GMT 1, I respect your view Bongo. I honestly can't purport to have much of an educated insight into this. However, personally, I believe having a Black president in the USA would lead to great change and indeed would be a great change in itself. Whether this will happen within the next decade or two, who knows? I somehow doubt that the USA is ready to accept a Black man as president. I suspect Hilary will increasingly play on this in terms of justifying her campaign. I do hear your point about the pervasive, distracting and often pathetic cult of personality but I agree with Shep's comments about his Obama prints on the site and feel they justify why this is an important piece of art in the history of the USA. I think a good counter-print would be one depicting Hilary practising her script whilst sitting on the toilet; thereby demonstrating her dedication to the cause, giving an insight into motions of a clearly hardworking presidential campaigner. It could be called, 'If it floats you've got too much fat in your diet'. Re: future change in america - You have a woman that is getting a good chunk of the country's support for president - That is pretty radical as well and in no measure less likely to produce changed attitudes in the general population. I'd love to see Obama suddenly wake up a woman and witness the reaction of his supporters... do you think they'd be down for a black woman president? No? Shouldn't we stop and think about the implications of that for a second?
Here's something I find interesting: You can measure the resistance and even hostility toward the idea of a woman as Commander-in-Chief by measuring the kind of sexist comments this race is generating. What if negative comments about Obama came in the form of racism to the degree the comments about Clinton are sexist - each reflecting the "difference" of the candidate being BLACK or a WOMAN? This would not be tolerated. But perverse sexist comments are not only allowed, but cheered while racist comments are of course taboo (as they should be). Either of these things are equally grotesque IMO and not helpful when you need to examine the candidate's paper trail (and I'm not referring to posters!)
When you look at it this way, maybe electing a woman president would indeed be the more difficult and radical change for America. ?

Shepard Fairey • Obama Prints, by Michael Jacob on Mar 14, 2008 16:16:19 GMT 1, Im uploading images right now. Ill be listing it for sale in about 5-10 minutes in the "art and auction" section of the forum. This is a unique piece. If the response is good, Ill probably do a few more, but they will be different in size. this will be an edition of one. If a future one (or more) is done, it will PROBABLY be done a larger sheet of paper but use the same graphic...

cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260208384881
www.Expressobeans/public/detail.php/71959
These prints were $50 two weeks ago. The one that just sold went for 3800% more than cost? Move over Banksy, Faile and Micallef, Obama is in town! I mean really, he didn't even win super tuesday? I wonder how much this print will go for if he wins the general election?

The current political race is very confusing as the line between Liberals and Conservatives is not only grayed, but non-existant. good on shep for taking a side.

Shepard Fairey • Obama Prints, by Michael Jacob on Feb 6, 2008 20:37:59 GMT 1, The prices are beyond crazy. what happens if Obama drops out? Talk about getting lost in the moment. The other thing I find interesting is why they arent printing more. not only do they claim they want to keep prices down, they claim to support obama. if thats the case, why not print tons more, sell more, and give more to the obama cause?

That would be the funniest thing ever!!!

All you need to know about obama is that his major demographic is the wealthy and the majority of the poor support Hillary? hmmm Sound strange for the potentially "first" black president? Check out the policies...

Look at california after the debates and how Mrs. Arnold supported Obama a lot of people thought he would of won the state.

Now he has the support of many pop and movies stars, well the rest of the public will follow.
a hillary poster would be worth much more in the long run...as it will be rarer

They are different enough, and factor in all of the scandals Hillary has constantly been involved with, from Whitewater in 1979 all the way up to 2007 (criminal investigation, numerous fundraiser frauds, etc etc)...talk about major character flaws...
Good luck finding dirt like that on Obama.

Whatever way you look at it, it's still a picture of a politician and therefore only fit to wipe your arse on it.
Why has no one invented Thatcher quilted toilet roll?
