Using text for eye lid shading/eyelashes on the Japanimation looking character on the left was clever.

I like the Blue Text/Shapes over the red background over on the far right. Who did that?

Oh boy.I went along to get the new print`s i ordered and found a great show instead. Got my prints but also some originals as well. Elms were not expecting the guy to turn up and start painting,but also on top of that , they then got a load of originals arrive from NYC.I think they may have some left over.

Don't think it was Listers best work to date but I'm a fan of his and feel he'll go far. Seemed to be a fair few originals sold but I feel they have judged the mood of the market wrong on the prints re price and edition size. I saw one person purchase a set and know of no others who own these.

Very nice prints though and overall, a very pleasant sunday afternoon.

i was just curious to see the reaction of people in seeing the work 1st hand, how impressed etc,
i thought the price of the prints to be too expensive for a relatively recent artist, & wondered how they moved,

I went along and was pleasantly surprised that most of the work on show was on smaller canvases/wood( anywhere from 30x30cm to 65x65cm). there were only 1-2 big pieces on show( a diptych at £5K per canvas). I thought it was v. good with some really nice mid-size canvases that were superhero type but not full on spiderman/ superman stuff. i bought one of the 4 NYC Hero kids that was on offer which I thought were excellent and better than the other NYC work he has done. Prints were really nice also( and i managed to pick up a set excl VAT as I live overseas!!!).

The small 30x30cm boxes were £500 each, the 30x30 canvases( a triptych) were £1K each, the 65x65cm canvases( NYC Heroes) were £2K each and the larger/ mid size canvases( not sure of the exact size but maybe 1mx1m) were £3250 each.

All in all a good day and well worth visiting if it's still on

To those in the US the prints from Elms are 640 GBP + shipping...no VAT...seems in line with whats been going on with print prices lately...love Lister's work!

last one in the states was £200 for an edition of 45. these are treble the price and over double the edition. Yes there is 2 of them but they are not sold separate so it's one package. And even if they were sold separate it's for us in the UK it's still double the price and double the edition.

Yeah I hear you on that...wish I could have snagged the Superman at cost! I agree the price is def high but what I meant by in line with what's going on...it seems a lot of prints are being priced at the secondary market level and pumping up the editions on top of it. I disagree with that tactic and think it is a bad idea because a lot of great prints may not sell and could really hurt the whole market and the artists.

I believe these are also silkscreens where as the other editions have been giclee as well...not sure how that would effect it?

I disagree with the tactic as well. The last superman print was a quality print, part giclee part etching. The ones before that were very cute little giclees. I've kept a set my self with matching numbers which Mr framer man will be framing up for me on this Thurs. Thanks gary dude!

Just about keeping a lid on my control in the absence of anyone negging me for my true true feelings ;D Thats about as strong as I am willing to word my displeasure. Although evertime I look at Lister stuff I definitely keep hearing 'it was acceptable in the eighties'

If this is a sign of things though, I hope they have some Phil Frost originals to go with his book, they guy has grown on me a lot. I hated it when I first saw it, now I love it, same could yet happen with Lister I suppose
