M-City π΅π± Print Release β’ Show News β’ Art For Sale, by runningdog on Nov 15, 2007 18:33:02 GMT 1, Well look at that. A thread about a seriously wicked collective of artists gets 3 replies, whilst 10,000+ threads about shitty print releases and flipping get 1000+ replies. Fuck this. I'm deleting my account.

Detail looks amazing even on the small picture and the black spray around the bomb looks great.

M-City π΅π± Print Release β’ Show News β’ Art For Sale, by spirit on Mar 27, 2008 15:42:53 GMT 1, I was really looking forward to the m-city print because I think his work is brilliant and unique but to be honest, although it's good, I'm a bit disappointed that this print features yet another bloody bomb! I expected something different from the usual subject matter from m-city. Would much rather have just had one of his cityscapes without the war element.

Are you sure? there was a discussion about this the other day - someone said they thought they were a collective and then came back later and said they had got it wrong - it was just one guy. Would like to see some definitive info on this.
And yes it's a BOMB

M-City π΅π± Print Release β’ Show News β’ Art For Sale, by Strange Al on Mar 27, 2008 17:28:45 GMT 1,
This may explain the confusion:
"One person created most of the Cities, the biggest ones although were the opportunity for friends and sometimes occasional bystanders to help the author paint. Such meetings had an atmosphere of a picnic, most of the helpers were at least a bit introduced to a stencil technique, and the technique itself is not a demanding one. It's enough to have imagination and a drive for creation, and one can be very creative at work with stencils. What's interesting is that unconsciously people often tend to create their own town/district - people living in blocks of flats tend to paint b.o.f., people from villas tend to build villas, people from around the port will surely picture the port etc. The same refers to the figures appearing in the Cities - they seem to have a story on their own". (taken from M City's website)

Hear hear... I've been going over and back to HMP's site waiting for this print to come out for the last 3 or 4 days (as I always get the emails long after the horse has bolted - still waiting for my 3D email from POW for example) but the bomb thing is a big disappointment. A bit unneccesary.
I've even just spent a few minutes trying to work out how big the biggest piece would be that I could cut out of the print to get rid of the bomb and I reckon it wouldn't be more than 40 x 30cm. Reluctant (and sad) to have to pass.
Bah.

M-City π΅π± Print Release β’ Show News β’ Art For Sale, by baracass on Mar 28, 2008 1:12:14 GMT 1, I think HMP are always going to find it hard to ingratiate themselves with the overseas market when (despite the image - whether it be hit or miss) they charge customers X amount delivery (eg. Β£16 for the UK customers - too much IMO) knowing that their customers will also get hit with an extra customs charges on top of that. I've passed on the last several HMP releases because I don't know what it is going to end up costing me.I understand that the customs charges are out of their control (there are ways around this regarding the way things are labelled, wink, nudge etc) but still feel it doesn't work in their favour. I know shit is expensive in Norway but should that translate into studiply expensive postage fees for customers? Perhaps they've dropped the prices initially to head off these extra buyer overheads. I'm certainly not in the know - just expressing an opinion.
That said, gotta say massive props for the quality of the prints which are totally worth the dosh at the end of the day though. They certainly don't cut any corners. A print house with great integrity and brilliant looking finished products that look the nuts.
I think the M-City print is a touch cliche but fantastic none the less. Overcrowding and hyper-extending the resources, limits and consequences of our inner city spaces will eventually cause an implosion that has most certainly already begun and is hard to imagine a fix that doesn't involve the decline of the human race. Or maybe I've missed the point completely.
