Josh Sperling πΊπΈ Print Release β’ Perrotin β’ Case Studyo , by Express Post on May 21, 2019 20:31:21 GMT 1, For this release, especially when folks are e-mailing as early as January, absolutely no chance.
They're screening people nowadays to see if you are worthy and not just flippers. Happened to a mate of mine who went for a Joyce Pensato. They did a 360 grill, ie tell us more about your art collection and if available, what is your ig handle? Then based on that, it was up them to see if they wanted to place the edition with you or not. Case closed. In other words, rest in piece all new collectors.Β

Josh Sperling πΊπΈ Print Release β’ Perrotin β’ Case Studyo , by Inknart on May 21, 2019 21:19:38 GMT 1, With the demand that there is for these editions, I'm curious to see where an OG canvas will finish if and when anyone is brave enough to put in auction. Nobody, since they only have 100 of the same clients and the person would be forever black listed from the artist and future releases. Smart move I guess, almost market manipulation in a way to never sell to anyone new. Almost an incestuous way to do business.
I find it discouraging though as these are editions, not originals that they feel the need to s**t on people if they're not up to standards with there VIPs.
It would be nice if some of these artists would step in and ask for some fair treatment of other human collectors.
I'm bitter, since this has happened to me for about 4+ Years at Case Studyo now. End rant.

I've seen very limited case pieces several sell behind closed doors, or rather openly on ig...if case cared, they would be blind to miss it.. several of the get everything guys also sell everything fairly openly
My question would be how big is the real market if these were more easily attainable...
Josh is awesome. But it's not hard to sell the same artists to the same small group of people over and over. Kinda reminds me of dran ogs... Basically made secondary lower than retail in the long run

Josh Sperling πΊπΈ Print Release β’ Perrotin β’ Case Studyo , by CREAM on May 21, 2019 21:48:18 GMT 1, Make of this what you will but I bought a parra apple and a sperling vase last year without ever having contact with them before and I'm certainly no VIP and they sold me those pieces before online release.
Funny enough someone mentioned having to show them your collection to prove you aren't a flipper, I kind of did that unasked and sent some pictures in my email to show I'm a collector. Maybe that helped?
With that said I havent got anything through emailing them this year...

Josh Sperling πΊπΈ Print Release β’ Perrotin β’ Case Studyo , by Inknart on May 21, 2019 22:19:57 GMT 1, Canβt make up my mind about Josh Sperling. Do people think these are a good buy for Β£1000ish? I love it, because it's different. It's not a print, or really a sculpture per say.
It's unique enough that I have multiple walls in hallways where I think it would fit great and be different rather than another framed print.
950 doesn't seem horrible as you won't have to spend money on framing. Out of the box piece.
If anyone is offered this and wants to pass, please let me know .

Not sure why this has become common practice. Avant is worse but for fucks sake. Just don't say a word. Pre sale your shit and move on with your day. Building hype for a drop that isn't going to happen is ridiculous.

Imo it's the best sperling from case, and closest (looking) to his originals vs a vase, less than half of the edition size as the last and quite large. (so I'd say yes, also compared to his OG's pricing).

Josh Sperling πΊπΈ Print Release β’ Perrotin β’ Case Studyo , by Express Post on May 22, 2019 2:32:32 GMT 1, Both methods of releasing all have their pros and cons.
With an online release, bots will eat, or you will physically have to respond within seconds of a drop.
The email method means buyers get vetted, so less chance of the works getting into the wrong hands. The only thing is it is a mystery how to secure a piece. A final solution would be to price the hell out of a release so it discourages flippers, and if you really want the piece, you'll pay. End of the day there will always be another drop, and another.
With all the disappointments and triumphs, 'tis a fun sport 'tis art game we playeth.

Just waiting for that undeliverable mailer daemon notification to come back because of too many enquiries.
