Rotofugi at 1953 W. Chicago Ave ... is usually worth a visit. Best to google it first see if it's her cup of tea. They have a vinyl toy store and a gallery next door with a group show of local artists at the moment.

There are also a ton in great galleries in Pilsen and around Fulton Market. Its a wonderful city with loads to offer and amazing art. ;D ;D

Go to the MCA & The Chicago Institue of Art

Gallery-wise it is hit or miss - depending on who is being shown. Personally I tend to like Monique Meloche, Packer Schopf & Roy Boyd (ask to see the big Teo Gonzalez!)

Im going to Chicago this weekend to take the family shopping... my wife wants to shop, my kids just want a hotel with a pool. Id like upscale. I tried the Penninsula, but they are booked. I stayed at The Ritz a long time ago with work, and thought is was way over priced. Any suggestions on nice hotels? Thanks

Hotel Intercontinental is across the street from Nordstroms. The Drake is a nice spot. The Park Hyatt is very nice.

Swissotel is really nice. The W is nice too but I'm not sure if they have a pool.

TBH, I always book my hotels through Hotwire.com They don't tell you the name of the hotel until after you book it but you can pick the star rating and all the amenities you want. I have used it at least 30-40 times, putting up djs when I was doing club promotions and every hotel was top of the line. Not to mention you can usually get a 4-5 star hotel for about $100.

Oh... the Sofitel is also very nice and close to everything. The W is nice but the rooms are small.

Id agree with the Drake and the W. Both are tip top IMHO. Good luck! I'll be in Chicago this weekend as well for good ole' Turkey Day.

The Sofitel is really nice - just be careful as after a few drinks the dark floors and walls can make it hard to get out of the lobby.

W lakeside rocks, beautiful quiet pool, get a lake view room or suite, well appointed, contemporary but comfortable too and best view in chicago, unless your lucky city view rooms in most hotels are fairly limited - close enough to everything, shopping, mag mile 5min walk, navy pier and park the same

The Palmer House is nice and right in the thick of it for shopping. i dont remember about a pool though. depending on how old the kids are, you might want to get tickets for 'wicked'

This saturday, the Chicago Art Museum is opening its new Modern Wing. Looks like a big party. First exhibition is Cy Twombly with 30 pieces. I hear he will be there Friday night for a gala. Im now searching for a way to get in. If anyone has any leads, please help!
