Do you struggle having Eines on your wall?, by chichi carter on Apr 20, 2019 19:12:31 GMT 1, Here is another question that crossed my mind: Is protesting Eine's behaviour by not supporting him (by collecting his art or displaying it on your walls) limited to his own work or does it also include the work he has done for others. Being the master printer at Pictures On Walls for some years, he's had a hand in a lot more work than just his own. I'm just 'shooting the s**t' here. I'm curious to see where people draw the line.

Do you struggle having Eines on your wall?, by Chris JL on Apr 22, 2019 1:20:13 GMT 1, In my view, it is a hollow claim that one may separate the art from the artist. Look at this forum: much of the discussion is on who signed what and what would be the market price of a piece, were it attributed to a different artist. Artist and art are (correctly, in my view) tightly intertwined. The artist's life and message create the context to interpret the artwork. Context determines the message of the piece and gives it meaning. That is ultimately what you display on your wall.
I’m very sympathetic to this view. (And I have indeed 2 B.E. in the flat folder, acquired ante, that I don’t think will ever make the wall because I feel he’s a piceofs*)
Nevertheless, I feel that I could happily know nothing about Vermeer’s relatively unremarkable life (and for many years I did), and still I could live happily with any of his works.
And yes, Picasso was a sexist p*ick. Nevertheless...
I think that historical perspective matters (I still love my Hemingway’s), but for an artist of our time the bar of decency should be clear cut.

But seriously, there’s no ‘correct’ view, you can separate great, you can’t great, it’s all fine.
Caravaggio was a murderer, but I love his work, it was also a long time ago and times were different then - see what I did there ? That’s the bit I dislike making excuses it’s a bit pathetic don’t make excuses eh

Do you struggle having Eines on your wall?, by Daniel Silk on Jul 26, 2019 8:04:12 GMT 1, Here is another question that crossed my mind: Is protesting Eine's behaviour by not supporting him (by collecting his art or displaying it on your walls) limited to his own work or does it also include the work he has done for others. Being the master printer at Pictures On Walls for some years, he's had a hand in a lot more work than just his own. I'm just 'shooting the s**t' here. I'm curious to see where people draw the line. I was wondering the same thing. Ben Eine printed pretty much all of the early Banksy Prints, and from what I hear even had some influence in the designs, colours and layout of the pieces, so for those who have now decided to sell or never buy any pieces by Ben, are you selling your Banksy Prints also?

Also important to mention profiteering from such a monster would be distasteful at best.. so everything sold at cost please. Slide into my DMs as the kids say 😂(ps I’m not laughing at Eines behaviour. He’s often deplorable)

Do you struggle having Eines on your wall?, by Daniel Silk on Aug 9, 2019 6:17:06 GMT 1, Are you aware of any public apology he might have made for his actions? I see things in the way that we buy Art, rather than buying into the Artist and how he behaves, but in saying that I would still agree that if you don’t like what an artist does or says, then of course it’s your choice to sell their work in response. Public Apology? It think that’s up to him, but for me it’s more about his Art rather than him being some kind of celebrity figure that must follow what other people expect of him.

Do you struggle having Eines on your wall?, by moron on Aug 11, 2019 23:12:24 GMT 1, Why specifically Ben Eine. He punched his missus, got sent before a judge and was punished. I know nothing about him or his caracter apart from that. So don't know if it was a one off. So won't speculate.
How about artists who use drugs and contribute indirectly to the crime and violence that producing and selling drugs entails?
