Except I think this work will be forgotten in 15 years time, unlike the three others you reference.  Just my opinion, of course, but I do not think this has legs.  

I think it's helpful to look at work by early-to-mid career artists and question:  in 15-20 years, will the work be in the bin or in museums that matter.  Again, just my thoughts.  I do not own a crystal ball.  Peace to you Blerd.

I'm not her agent, you're entitle to your opinion and at least it came with some expiation rather than "Hot mess" which felt a bit like you were trolling.

Who knows!? What I will say is that she's been around for years, has a very distinct style. She has recently sold out solo shows in Japan with Nanzuka and Xavier Hufkens. Massive collaborations with Disney and Nike and seems to be in important collections. 

I definitely think her style is not for everyone and maybe not suited to the tastes of this forum which seems at times fixated on a dozen or so Artists who I believe like you do of Bernhardt won't be around. I personally think they have an even shorter lifespan. 

I'm just trying to open up a few more Artists for discussion it can be disheartening, but I won't give up! HAHA.

It depends how famous they get and stay in the conversation.

Felix Gonzalez-Torres left instructions to fill a corner with an endless supply of candy and left a stack of endless photocopies at the gallery.

Fontana painted a canvas one colour and slashed the canvas.

Sol Levitt left a set of instructions on how to create the piece.

Piero Manzoni shat inside tins.

Kathryn Fridriks mixes and spills paint on canvases.

Douglas Gordon painted a canvas with vodka.

Abramovic sat on a chair and stared at people.

Dan Flavin leans fluorescent tube configurations in the corners.

James Turrell cuts holes in ceilings and gets you to look at the sky or fills a room with coloured light.

Ugo Rondinone paints desert rocks in fluro colours.

It's the art world. Anything can happen.

Indelible marks left. Whether one "likes" the artist in question mentioned above is irrelevant, it's the dialogue/story that's important. Good conversation this, nothing to do with money...

I wonder what the price will be...anyone have a guess at the over/under?  I'm going to say Tier 1 starts at $1500.

I think the others started out at 3.5K so I doubt you will get one for 1.5K but who knows.  

I'm not a great fan of her work but I do think this is a better image than the previous Pink Panther release.

If people are willing to pay £10-£12k for the CE print then this makes sense. I for one applaud the recognition she's getting. It's been a strong start to the year for her.

Her Tacos canvas later hammered at $28,000. Keep in mind comparing the image to Pink Panther would be like comparing Javier Calleja's In Between the Lines and the giant big eyed heads he is popular for now.

I'd say it was already a movement as shown by the Nina Chanel Abney group show Punch at then end of last year at Jeffery Deitch. I'd Also add she's already had a 10 + year horizon. As they say it takes a long time to have instant success.

Her earlier stuff isn't as popular as he recent cartoon characters. It's a new direction. Lets see where it takes her.

I hear you, but the whole point of the NY Times Article is identifying them as a new school of Artists. I believe Jonas Wood is in this group along with Abney and If you follow them they support each others events. 

With respect who knows if anyone will be known in ten years its a bit of a pointless point.  

Opinions aside she's been grafting for 20 years and definitely deserves the recognition. 

Black and female Artists have long been ignored, but rightly seem to be having their moment. 

I for one am happy the auction of that Panther supported that.
