Yes, but the people who have '50k to drop on art' are experiencing a disproportionate decrease in wealth.  Recessions and inflation trickle up, not down.  All that cash that the under-endowed spend on heating fuel and electricty is money that doesn't go into the economy and feed the '50k to drop on art' crowd's coffers.  A knock-on to that is the under-endowed slow or stop purchasing the low-end prints that artists produce which puts the artists in a cash-bind and they have to sell their higher end production for lower prices. 

The '50k to drop on art' crowd didn't become financially stable by over-spending and guess what, they like 'fire sales' as much as anyone else, probably more.  You do realize these crises are manufactured, right?  Geez, all the smart central bankers in the world never saw the potential inflation that was coming if they turned on the money printing machines and left them running for twenty years, nope, they were completely surprised.  But yeah, they are going to pay a pound more than they have to for art.

Amazing print - my favourite format of this image.

With the devaluing in Sterling...this will be very attractive to international buyers. American Banksy collectors find themselves in an enviable position to capitalise on the incompetence of the Lizz Truss government.

In times of financial volatility, there are people who make more money, and there are those that park their money in asset classes such as blue chip art...

Quality blue chip art will not go down in value due to recession. Don't conflate the resetting of the pandemic bubbles (due to unprecedented global QE) with recessionary pressures.

I think you will find that the US Dollar has become stronger against EVERY major currency in the last 12 months and this is not isolated to the UK. Then EVERY currency dropped against the US Dollar in the last 7 days.

The point I am making is that art buyers don’t just live in the US and UK.

Basic economics means that it will have to swing back at some point, then it could get ugly in the US if all currencies recover too quickly at the same time.

I feel that you have exceeded your potential - it's "manu-" not "manafacturing" btw.  I think you didn't understand what I wrote.  They're out already, mate.  They took the cash and ran (or reversed their position to make money on the way down).  They'll pump all of their money back in to pick everything up at bargain basement prices when the bottom comes (and do it several times as they are the causes of the bottom bounces).
