"Weston-Super-Mare", by numusic on Jun 23, 2006 19:09:12 GMT 1, I think your gonna just need to agree to disagree and leave it a that ;D How did all this start up on the thread of the Canvas Weston Super Mare anyway?
someone had aquired an unsigned, unnumbered WSN, not an AP listed print.. as these we're pre stamp and pre POW printed, we assumed it was a 'backdoor' old print shop knock off (these we know do occassionaly pop up), hence the debate.. speaking of which, I think is healthy and a good use of the forum as long as it doesn't get too personal.

quite interesting to hear all the differing sides when these debates occur, the other forum is more print based for obvious reasons.. but this is BANKSY in all his guises and arouses different sorts of passions/ethics/debates..cool

"Weston-Super-Mare", by ash828 on Jun 24, 2006 2:34:17 GMT 1, If you are buying prints purely for investment value or to sell on I agree that you should have a receipt or COA, however I think the emphasis should be placed on the quality of the print and more so the apreciation of that particular Banksy piece rather than getting excited about what number it is etc etc

"Weston-Super-Mare", by foundation on Jun 24, 2006 8:57:56 GMT 1, Is it hard to understand? Not arsed about what number a bloody print is, but am arsed that its a real Banksy print i have just paid for, not a knock off. If its all about the quality you want to be buying a print that is verifiable rather than a cheap piece of tat that will fade in a couple of months. And how do i do that I hear you ask? buy a stamped and or numbered and or signed print from a good source. I am trying to give a bit of good advice here and it seems that some people are either hard of thinking or have some other vested interest. I am not attacking anyone or casting accusations about, just dont like seeing people getting fleaced by buying rubbish.

"Weston-Super-Mare", by misterstanhope on Oct 19, 2007 14:15:29 GMT 1, I've got quite a few Banksy prints that are un numbered and unsigned, they were given to me about 4 years ago by a shop owner in newcastle who'd been sent a selection of prints by POW, they all have, 'test', or in a few cases scribbled out pencil numbers. The guy didn't like them - bet he's kicking himself now! I don't mind the lack of provenance, they look as good on my wall as the originals would. I've got Laugh now, bombhugger, weston super mare, turf war, virgin mary. My mate got bomb middle england and barcode. So yes there are probably a lot of prints out there, especially older work from b4 banksy gained so much public exposure.

Good story man - however the unsigned un numbered situation is one which you can't use easily to sell them on if you ever want to. Best just frame them and keep them.
Un numbered means no provenance - which means worth a lot less than one which is and has provenance.
Nu - you can complete the story - in a more tact ful manner than I on this one.

I think we can safely conclude that no prov = no go Prov= go if you have the where with all.
I think that was the case then and now , well the story is clearer , don't you think mr wiz ?
Topical also as my framed Wsm is due to arrive in a couple of weeks.. It's been a long time coming.
