In my experience PC are rapid at confirming authenticity of a print or registered owner if you are about to buy. If you want change of ownership chances are you will wait a while, ive never applied for COA but seems you wait a while for that too, unless your called Bob.

If I got this right, you were offered a gwb from an auction house. You checked with the forum here and witv PC and it turned out to be fake. You declined the offer and fortunately didn't get tricked. That is great.

But Im sure forum members would be curious (and would appreciate) to hear if the auction house is just offering this up to the next person or is taking serious action.

i certainly understand everybody wants to know who this is, to avoid get tricked by them again.
yesterday and this morning i wrote both (auction house and gallery) what they will do now? because it is also in their interests and reputation, i also recommended to contact PC, to go for sure. so i want wait a few days if they will make a statement or so, or if they just ignore the issue.
i just can say, they both are based in france (and it is not artspace as mentioned :-)

After weeks trying to get in touch with the gallery and PC and with no feedback anymore, it is as we all assumed - it is a fake.
The french gallery "unik" did not get in touch with me anymore and PC wrote this in the last two emails as i insist for a feedback:

We have previously explained the work and COA are a fake.
and
We have dealt with Unik Gallery for many years with regards to the works they sell.

Taking a deep breath as I post this. I've owned it since the middle of last decade, when I bought it because I loved it. It's been framed and on my wall since purchase, and although it was done professionally, over the years the mount has stained the edges of the print all round. The good news is that this is just the very edge, below the stamp,and does not show once framed. It has Pest Control COA in my name and which I guarantee is authentic, as I took the print up person because they needed it in hand to check before issuing. It is currently unframed but attached to the mount at the back of the print, at the top, like a hinge by two small pieces of tape. I've left these in place along with the mount for protection and will sell like this. Other than the edge discolouration it appears fine otherwise and is perfectly flat having been framed. Please look carefully at all photos for condition.  It's the right time for me to part with it as there are things I now need to do more than look at my art. I would want to meet the buyer in person and receive a bank transfer directly to my account, as I've done with other fairly recent sales. I'm located on the Surrey/Hants border. I will not ship by any method for protection of both me and purchaser. The difficult bit is that I'm not 100% certain of the value in this condition (and am fully prepared to deal with time wasters!) and would be grateful for advice. Condition seems to matter very little at auction these days. Good looking piece. GLWTS

Assuming "professional" = to archival standards, I would suspect it is UV damage to the exposed area, rather than discolouration from the mount.

Every Banksy print in the last 12 months has sold for top dollar, regardless of condition.

Find out the going rate for an u/s GWB and ask that for it.

Someone will pay what you ask + more.

Do not rush or be rushed into selling too low.

Get the best deal that you can, there are no friends in business.

Sold my signed GWB in Dec and it was both the worst and best decision in one.

Take your time.....

Fantastic print and a prime example of why I always recommend having any framing mat raised up off of the print surface. I have yet to find any framer that does this without being instructed but due to seeing countless instances like this (this is a very minimal case) I started having all my matted prints framed using a secondary inset mat that raises the primary mat up off of the print surface a few mm. Of course using 99% UV glass/ plexi is also recommended, but given enough time that fraction of 1% can still leave damage from UV, mat pigment staining and / or leaving an impression of the contact area in the print. When the mat is lifted off the surface it lets the UV damage transition with a smooth almost undetectable gradient and eliminates pigment or impression damage. The worst cases are always with black mats that even when "archival" can still color the underlying print given enough time. Sorry to use a sales thread but thought it was a prime example and will benefit members and their art.

I doubt those Union Jack ones ever got printed, and they would probably have been smaller and done on a printer rather than sreeen printed.

The damage may hinder the price a bit, but you should still be looking at 30+, if not, very close to. Great sales thread, the way it should be done. GLWTS
