Ok so your credentials are good but with something like investment / valuation rose or fall you can't just say you are right. I work in investment and some assets are more solid investment than others, or there are other boutique assets that when they do well they do extraordinarily well but they are riskier I.e less market data etc / less volume / less liquidity.

But the point here is that people buy art in general based on what they like not what potential value it might gain and for someone to say that one thing will definitively accrue more value over another is wrong. We do not own crystal balls!

With my own private clients I would suggest that one would possibly be a better investment but would not guarantee and say I am right, that is just misleading and irresponsible.

Its definitely more limited, so very expensive.Possibly more so

.......I bought my GWRB almost a decade ago because I felt a connection with the image, I was and still am, a massive fan of Banksy, back then I paid alot of money for the print and was told by some that I'd paid too much, I wish that it had'nt increased in value so rapidly as now I feel that the market is almost forcing me to sell, I have found the vastly differing opinions amusing, depressing, puzzling and endearing!

This discussion regarding signed Girl With Balloon prints has made me think about the relative value of an unsigned Girl With Balloon versus the more limited signed. Anybody care to guess the current value of an unsigned? If a signed is arguably in the £85k region, I'll be interested to see what the premium is for the signature and yes I would certainly covet a signed version. I also recognize the scarcity of the signed in a smaller edition of 150 against 600 unsigned.
Its also been suggested to me that maybe some canvases could represent good value if prints are fetching such lofty prices.

Can't get that link to work.

The rat estimate seems completely out of touch with reality.  I know that auction houses like to tempt people in but if they seriously have put £25-35k on that canvas I would not be happy as the seller.  These sell at £100k+ privately and I know of at least one that sold for quiet a bit more.

The Paranoid is too low an estimate as well with them achieving £100k+ privately but at least its relatively in the ballpark compared to the rat.
