I share your point of view on this image kashi . To me it is far from Banksy's best.

However I think you are wrong : put this on a stall for a cheap price and you will make a killing because it is the most easily likeable Banksy, one the whole family can love innit

I find it boring, weak in it's delivery of the message, and I place it at the bottom of my personnal list for Banksy's best. But then again I happen to think that Turf War is his best print, not only from the relevance and messaging, but although for the visual impact...so what do I know.

As for the price GWB fetches, who cares. If people are paying mucho pounds so be it, I couldn't care less !

i share your statement and point of view... Always this Girl With Balloon ! A bit childish and overestimated , I don't know why collectors run after this one and why Banksy ( we saw that for Dismaland vip sales ) is using again and again this stencil. We all love kids but he has done so many singular and great artworks.. If you think that Banksy is now only a brand , you will see things different and think that apart some new good art streets , we only speak about Banksy as a market.. I reckon anyway that charities make Banksy busy.

Are we stooping down to the 'I could have done that' argument? On that same basis I could have painted a few soup cans, or knocked up a dove with more substance than Picasso. 

The originality of a piece, and its subsequent impact on an overall art form, are surely more important than the complexity of the art itself. It's not a political piece but it was done over ten years ago and is instantly recognisable as a Banksy work, and that is by a global audience, not just readers of forums such as this. I'd put it up there with Warhols soup can, Picasso's dove, for anyone of a certain age. 

As for the argument about the market stall? They sold originally for £60, that was their worth, then. If you buy it now however you aren't just paying for the paper, the idea and the print. You're surely paying the premium for the subsequent iconic impact of both that image, and that artist, over the least fifteen years. It's survived a decade, it's unlikely it/he will disappear now, and that also adds value/prestige/insurance. 

Apologies for semi rant (it's just a personal view) but when people keep going on about other works he's done being technically better it winds me up. Reminds me of when people always used to harp on about Betamax technically besting VHS! As someone else has said, it's worth whatever a buyer will pay. Surely it's not really anyone else's concern as long as the OP isn't taking the mick, and by asking for an price it's achieved previously I can't see that he is?

Yes some of banksys stuff is over hyped drivel with a lot better stuff from less known artists out there. But to say gwb is a 'fairy basic image' and not worth its place in the art world is foolish.

Here's an image that, for me, says nothing ... a girl loses her heart to the breeze, thats not exactly original ... , that I could recreate in one hour or less (I know, I know, it'd just be a copy), that there are 750 exact same copies of, 150 of them signed, so not in any way unique. And, on secondary market, you are not even giving money to the artist so that they can create more art that you love.
So, what's left? For me, the only value that I see in it is the investment value.
If that is what art is to you, so be it. To me art should speak to my heart, expand my world, start conversation. If I buy a piece of art, of course I hope that it will retain its value, maybe get to be worth more, but really I hope that so I don't get accused of throwing the family's money down the drain, to justify myself to those that say we could have spent that money on a meal out, or a holiday, or on the car, or whatever.
So, whether this is worth 15k, 20k, 60k or 80k in the art-market is of no consequence to me. Give me a cheapo WCP any day of the week (but please make it a Rude Copper not this one)

I regret that the free & easy world of graffiti & street art has been dragged into this s**t ... remember when it was for fun? for kicks? exciting? when we spoke to each other in paint, not pounds?

I go back to my original question (one that I think Banksy understands, given his New York park art stall the other year) ... if you saw this on a market stall, would you stop? If so, what would you expect to see it priced at?

From what I was told you aren't supposed to sell them for five years. So that'd be 2020. Perhaps the Dumbo prints are dated 2019? Correct me if I'm wrong. They are being shopped around at the moment.

A COA from Pest Control is a COA from Pest Control, no matter what date is on it. The COA's very presence is the thing that gives the piece legitimacy, not the date on it?

Are artist proofs supposed to be produced at the same time as the regular edition run?

If produced 10 years after the original edition , is that not bad play ? Or even a few months after an edition has sold out.

All artists can extend editions if a print is popular by labelling as an ap?

If it was any other artist doing this , the discussion would be different .

Sometimes you buy at the time as the limited edition appeals

My understanding is gold, pink, purple and red artist's proofs were produced each as an edition of 22, so, 88 in all, priced at £35k + VAT, all included COA's. I think they were printed and available before and during the Dismaland show to VIP's only. Anyone please correct me if i'm wrong.
