Oli Epp π¬π§ Post-Digital Pop β’ New Painting β’ Art For Sale, by nobokov on Aug 1, 2018 14:40:23 GMT 1, wat makes you suggest the sale was fake? According to the history, the seller let expire multiple offers of 1200 on 7/24. Then on the 26th, declined two offers of 1100 and an hour later accepts 1000 from the same buyer. To me, logic says that doesn't make any sense, nor would anyone in their right mind pay that amount for an oli print when you can buy an original for near that range.

I get the offer history looks a bit suspect, However, Oli Epp OGs are extremely hard to get hold of

Unfortunately the line for originals is 10 miles long now,and not nearly as affordable. I've seen a multi tasking sell for 1.25k USD.. not saying the above auction is real, just didn't seem impossible. I'd still love one, but I'm happy to own a carpe diem. Those haven't even been sold yet to set market, and I'm not selling mine. Nicer print imo, for many reasons. And far more limited
Believe it not not, he's going to be very hard to get ahold of .. he has been since before the last show even opened. I've been trying for an og since about 2 months prior to that. Seemingly impossible. I'm currently in line with a few galleries, but who knows. And prices have gone up some

And prices have gone up some I know that once we own someone's work we tend to defend and find explanations for higher prices, but I'll remain a skeptic of these eBay sales. Definitely understand the demand for the originals, as I've been in this mysterious line since October of last year and haven't seen to moved forward at all, but would never buy a print from an early career artist at that price no matter how hot his market may seem.

Oli Epp π¬π§ Post-Digital Pop β’ New Painting β’ Art For Sale, by touchdowntodd on Aug 1, 2018 15:23:10 GMT 1, While it's frustrating for us.. and ofcourse the same 10 people are getting anything they want, he's limiting his work, even taking time to showcase other artists. He's playing this well in not regards to his prices and demand. As much as I'd like to see him work more, and finally get myself an original... He seems to be playing the high end career game vs the pay my bills game that gets so many artists over saturated and they vanish...
If he stays to a 1 or 2 prints a year, and 10 originals.. this is going to be a long , long wait.. and the market will only grow imo.
I'd feel exactly the same if I hadn't gotten lucky enough to source a carpe diem a few months ago. I just have faith in his work. Hence jumping on a print knowing I really want an original
All that being said, he's INSANELY nice, and that goes a long way IMHO

Oli Epp π¬π§ Post-Digital Pop β’ New Painting β’ Art For Sale, by Meskell on Aug 1, 2018 15:37:19 GMT 1, nobokov, it seems you may be unaware that when looking at best offer history both the bidder's best offer and seller's counters are listed. So those offers that the seller didn't accept and appeared to then settle for less were more than likely counter offers from the seller that the bidder didn't accept.

This is 100% correct. The higher βoffersβ are βcounter offersβ made by the seller.
