Which Bot?, by clueless on Mar 30, 2018 2:20:28 GMT 1, I think the biggest misconception is how "rampant" these bots are. Most of the time it is people with really quick fingers or who know the check out "tricks".
Simple supply vs demand is usually the answer for these quick sell outs. It's extremely easy to check out in less than 10 seconds.
I'd stay natty like the most of us!

I say this all the time. Maybe 10% of sales go to bots, but not much more, this isnโt the sneaker game. I regularly score on obey drops, and GP is actually easier. Think outside the box, the way your checking out may not be the best way. Any second you can save can make the difference, do dry runs, familiarize yourself with the check out process.
Using a bot and getting caught over one print isnโt worth a lifetime blacklist.

Which Bot?, by clueless on Mar 30, 2018 2:35:22 GMT 1, The only thing you gotta worry about are these new "tricks" that these sites try to use to confuse the bots but all they do is confuse the humans.
For example, this would have been an EASY as hell drop even for a HF... However, myself... I got confused and thought the HF product page was a decoy due to not having an image. Yes, it was easy to tell by the price.. That's a given.. however, compared with their last drop and attempt to confuse bots.. I figured it was a decoy and waited for the "REAL" product page to drop.. Which, I was sorely disappointed.. Missed out because of an attempt to detract from the bots.. Quite frustrating..

Which Bot?, by Deleted on Mar 30, 2018 2:42:49 GMT 1, I think most people in this thread are vastly underestimating how easy it is to use a bot and how many people, also galleries looking for resale, use them. I don't know about art so much, but for popular concert tickets I'd say nearly 50% is taken right of the market by bots.

Which Bot?, by NYart on Mar 30, 2018 2:57:28 GMT 1, Your right about the concert and other other markets, however if you frequented those releases youโd realize 45 seconds for a sell out is an eternity. Completely plausible that 100 efficient individuals can check out in that time frame.
I imagine it is easy to use a bot, but Iโd prefer to do it myself knowing Iโm capable of doing so. Rather than run the risk of those doing the drop out smarting the script running the bot or being caught and black listed.

Which Bot?, by Jaylove on Mar 30, 2018 3:37:32 GMT 1, Given how quickly people can flip these for 2-3x the price I do not doubt plenty of bots are being used. Too much money out there to not get a leg up on everyone. For those that say you can buy within 10 seconds, sellouts happen in less than a second.

Agreed, for the latest Whatson drop, I had carted a set of stickers 20 mins before the drop, and had imputed my checkout details, address, payment method, and was also logged on to PayPal. All I had to do was press 2 buttons when the release went live, Add To Cart, and Pay. At 1500 hours, the very second the drop went live, I carted a standard edition, however at checkout both the set of stickers and the standard print in my cart were showing as being Sold Out.

If you would have waited on the release page, added to cart, checked out with paypal you probably would have been fine!
A friend of mine did exactly this, and managed to buy one main edition. So to be honest I think you "outsmarted" yourself, sir.

Which Bot?, by chevyav53 on Mar 30, 2018 13:05:30 GMT 1, I love all the bot talk. Happy are you from the โEveryone gets a trophy generation by chanceโ?
Sure some bots out there but if a 40yr old such as myself can get most drops I want then you are doing something wrong. It sucks missing a drop but just because you lose doesnโt mean rampant cheating is a foot.
The real question is, what are you doing incorrectly and how can you improve your chances? First thing Iโd try is reach out to the gallery and politely ask to be put on the presale list next time, donโt complain to them, just ask.

Which Bot?, by NYart on Mar 30, 2018 15:54:31 GMT 1, If 25% were presold that would leave about 150 for the release. GP says they keep the first 10 of the edition, so 140. The inventory showed 105. So thereโs ~30 or 15% of the edition they held back. So yes only a little over half actually were released but itโs not like the amount held back is extreme

Any confirmation besides his word?
Not trying to be rude just trying to understand if it leads to throwing shade at the gallery.

Which Bot?, by sneakersnart on Mar 30, 2018 17:07:52 GMT 1, My monitor refreshes the entire website - directly from Shopify servers - for any change of inventory or product multiple times per second.
Interpret the numbers as you like, but the monitor has no reason to lie. Monitor counted seven restocks for the main edition up to 48 minutes post-release. After an hour, I turned it off.
