Arno Beck π©πͺ Typewriter Art β’ Digital Art β’ Bonn, Germany, by sircoxson on Jan 24, 2018 15:24:00 GMT 1, Hello forum members,
I would like to introduce to you German artist Arno Beck who is about to release his first edition.
Web: arnobeck.de More about his art/techniques: arnobeck.de/text/text-zur-kunst/
Typewriter video:
Instagram: arno.beck www.instagram.com/arno.beck/
Arno isn't a street artist by definition but I understand some urban art collectors like his stuff. NB: me too, I already have bought some works by him. He was selected for an art residency at Espositivo in Madrid together with Oli Epp last November.
Arno's landscape works that he completely does on a typewriter are quite sought after and usually not available in the three galleries that represent him, so he decided to release a first edition of a typewriter piece, i.e. Mountain. I am translating the information I got in German, so please excuse bits that might be lost in translation.
Arno Beck, "Textmode" photopolymer etching, gravure printing edition size of 50 54 x 61 cm 600 Euro (additional shipping costs may apply)
The print is sold by Frankfurt based gallery "rundgaenger". If interested send them a mail: kunst@rundgaenger.de
Couple of pics of the print:

ArnoΒ΄s work is imho fantastic. Let us also mention that he went to the famous DΓΌsseldorfer Art Academy and even there he was one of the best studying under LΓΌpertz (!!!!!), Haverkost and Braun. Not too bad i believe. In addition, he will have some top exhibitions this year around the world.

I think all of here would have. my feelings 100%, I really like it but don't feel it's just too much also the cartoony cloud feels a bit too out of place to me the cloud is part of his idea as I understood (from his website):
"Another artistic approach, following the same thought process and motivation, is a series of typewriter drawings. This body of work is rooted in the same search for an analog translation of digital imagery. In this series, the drawings are achieved by typing on an old-fashioned manual typewriter. Beck types these motives line by line on Japanese paper, using different letters and symbols, that create a variety of different brightness values. On closer inspection, those works remind of binary codes, emphasizing the connection to the imagery from the digital world. He depicts landscapes on an almost photographic level and includes elements from low resolution computer games. By combining those layers he manages to fuse two completely different display modes into a seamless unity."

I don't dislike the integration of two forms idea (in fact after reading that I like the intention behind it) so much as that it isn't seamless and jars a bit for me - I certainly don't hate the cloud in there, it feels as if it's inclusion is subtle but still somehow jarring (perhaps I'm not explaining myself properly)

Arno Beck π©πͺ Typewriter Art β’ Digital Art β’ Bonn, Germany, by Wisconinla on Jan 28, 2018 21:46:52 GMT 1, I love this guyβs work. Iβve been watching him for awhile and some of his pieces blow me away. His typewriter works are insane. For those that own these, it seems that they look best if you stand back a bit, Iβm wondering if they would be as strong if hung in a small room or hallway.
This print is great, I believe someone on here has the original?
The price is a little high, but if I had the funds I would definitely get one.
Arno is gonna be a great artist to keep an eye on.

Arno Beck π©πͺ Typewriter Art β’ Digital Art β’ Bonn, Germany, by mehor on Jan 29, 2018 19:00:09 GMT 1, I decided against the print because: I just added OG nr.2. Was surprised that artsy has some left at a fair price. His typewriter pieces are insane, especially knowing how much work he invested to create one single piece. Margin for error seems low π
Now let us just enjoy and see our little rose blossom.

Quick question to the experts - are his acrylic / oil originals less cherished compared to the typewriter ones? I see there are original acrylic / oil pieces available at 1000 eur, which is relatively cheap compared to an edition one at 600 eur.

Iβd just buy what youβd like to see on your wall, if itβs the cheaper of the options then itβs a win win.
