Visit LOS ANGELES 🇺🇲 Street Art, Galleries, Events, by rkitek on Mar 4, 2008 2:00:28 GMT 1, I agree that there's some great stuff in the new Broad wing -- I went on opening day. Would've been nice if some of this stuff could have been preserved, that's all.

it seems like a lot of Failes get sold this way....

Visit LOS ANGELES 🇺🇲 Street Art, Galleries, Events, by rkitek on Mar 4, 2008 2:18:52 GMT 1, I was thinking that the museum should've preserved some of it for their collection -- particularly given that the new BCAM building that stands on the site houses contemporary art.

Visit LOS ANGELES 🇺🇲 Street Art, Galleries, Events, by todd on Mar 4, 2008 6:05:20 GMT 1, that would have been a great idea to have preserved it / incorporated it into the building somehow.
i'm kickin myself for missing out on appreciating that work that is now gone forever.
at the same time, i'm glad LA has now got a super exhibition space and collection at the Broad.

Visit LOS ANGELES 🇺🇲 Street Art, Galleries, Events, by urbanangel on Apr 29, 2008 11:31:03 GMT 1, About Derek Albeck's new show in LA
Hello Hello, I just wanted to let you know about my upcoming show at the Berdhouse gallery in Echo Park on May 9th.(Flyer Attached) This will be my first time exhibiting new work in the Los Angeles area this year. I have teamed up with French (www.tapedcopies.com) from the Uk to put together a variety of new works on paper as well as a collaborative print set for the show. The print set will include three brand new two color screenprints on paper that come packaged in a screenprinted portfolio, signed and stamped in an edition of 30. Dethkills has also produced a T shirt for the show that is limited to 25 pieces. Each shirt comes with a collaborative zine produced exclusively for the show.
Also during the month of May I will be creating a brand new letterpress print with the guys at POVeditions (www.poveditions.com) out of Los Angeles so keep a look out for updates on my NEW site which should be up within the next two weeks or so!
Hope all is well and I hope to see you May 9th at the show! D

Visit LOS ANGELES 🇺🇲 Street Art, Galleries, Events, by blacksy on Jun 12, 2008 13:09:53 GMT 1, Hi,
I may find myself with 5 days to spare in LA as of tomorrow. Can anyone tell me places to go, things to see, walls to photograph!
Is the caveman still there? and the watering can girl?? - if anyone could let me know addresses of those pieces that'd be fantastic.
Cheers

Visit LOS ANGELES 🇺🇲 Street Art, Galleries, Events, by rkitek on Jun 12, 2008 17:17:01 GMT 1, The two Banksy girls (CCTV and Watering Can) are at the Valero gas station on the corner of Beverly and La Brea.
The Banksy Caveman, if it's still there (I think it is) is on Beverly. Not sure of the address but I know its on the north side of the street somewhere near Fairfax.
There's a Banksy rat on the southside of Melrose between La Brea and Highland.
There's also a Herakut and a few other pieces on the backside of Carmichael Gallery on the corner of La Brea and Fountain.
Let's see, what else -- there's a collaboration between Shep, TLP and DFace outside the Red Garter Bar on Lincoln Blvd. between Washington and Venice on the east side of the street.
There's supposed to be (I haven't seen it yet) a Swoon & Gaia on the orange building on Heliotrope north of Melrose.
There are also a couple of MBW's on La Brea south of Olympic on the westside of the road.

Visit LOS ANGELES 🇺🇲 Street Art, Galleries, Events, by rkitek on Jun 13, 2008 16:53:00 GMT 1, There are other LA people out there so I'm sure they can help you on this one better than I . . . there's alway the Venice Boardwalk . . . there's more art, such as BCAM at the LA County of Museum of Art, the Will Barras show at Carmichael Gallery and whatever show Masea's got running at New Image Art.
The Standard on Sunset (or downtown) is always good for a cocktail and some people watching . . . or if you're into something more trendy, there are places like Social, El Carmen and loads of other bars . . . just pick up an LA Weekly when you get to town and I'm sure you'll find something.

Visit LOS ANGELES 🇺🇲 Street Art, Galleries, Events, by lordjim on Sept 20, 2010 5:46:02 GMT 1, Cheers all,
Probably only of marginal interest to all of you in the old world but if you're around in L.A., this is a swell bit of lunacy and you're invited.
The Goethe-Institut Los Angeles in collaboration with LA Art Machine/Vox Humana,
German Graffiti legends MA'CLAIM.
AKUT, TASSO, CASE and RUSK a.k.a. MA’CLAIM have managed to paint their way up to the very top of the international Graffiti scene in no time. The crew from the former GDR has breathed fresh air into the world of graffiti writing due to their peerless workmanship of a mix of classic graffiti and photorealism.
Their extraordinary productions have set new impulses within the scene. Ma’Claim have attracted an international fan community and are an inspirational source for other graffiti artists. Individual members Case and Akut ( one half of the duo "Herakut") already had solo exhibitions at renown galleries in Los Angeles, this is their first visit and collaboration in Los Angeles with the crew.
The Goethe Institut Los Angeles and the L.A. Art Machine are proud to present Vox Humana, a live mural installation with MA'CLAIM, September 21-24, 2010 on the corner of Palms and Motor in Los Angeles. The Crew will give an artistic commentary on the state of the Earth in an era of climate change.
A second opportunity to see MA’CLAIM in action will be on Saturday, September 25th at the Goethe-Institut Los Angeles where we invite you to meet MA'CLAIM at a live-painting session, presentation and panel conversation between Ma'Claim, L.A. writer icon RETNA and renegade journalist Tom Kummer.
September 21th through 24th 3459 Motor Ave. L.A., CA 90034 Wall Commissioned by the Goethe-Institut Los Angeles. Ma'Claim on Climate. Herakut on the backwall.
September 25th Goethe-Institut Los Angeles 5750 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 100 L.A., CA 90036
2:00 – 6:30 p.m. - Live Painting The Ma'Claim crew will demonstrate their amazing skills by completing a piece on location.
7:00 p.m. - An introduction to Ma'Claim. An exhibition and presentation of their work followed by a panel conversation with special guest Retna. Moderated by Tom Kummer
