the "Brodeo" one sounds like it would be cool to check out. don't think i will be making the drive down from the Bay Area though...

also bummed that my work trip to NYC that could have coincided with the Faile show is now off....

oh well, i should reign in my spending a bit anyway

So michaelscott and I went to these shows last night... there were quite a few outstanding pieces I must say... particularly Bast and Kelsey Brookes. I just wish I had loads more money!!

Took some pics, but I left my camera at a party I went to last night, so I have to get it back before I can post any. I think michaelscott will probably post them before I do, so in either case, pics will be up soon for those of you who are interested!

PS I can't believe how cheap the hotels are in LA are compared to NYC, nearly a 1/3rd the price!

depends on where in LA you're staying... hotels in downtown LA can be pretty expensive.

i think the micallef crew is staying at the hollywood roosevelt... i remeber after getting the confirmation for the preview show ... she said they were all staying there.... i wanna get a room there and party it up with them :-)

I live around the corner from the Roosevelt, and can confirm that it is a great place! It was completely renovated recently, and is now a Hollywood hotspot. It's also the location of the first academy awards! There are some great restaurants nearby, so if anyone needs any recommendations, I'd be happy to help!

THE MAN - TWIST will be having a show in LA starting 9/15. But it's a museum show, nothing for sale

That's what's great about being able to walk there! I also found that it's so much easier and cheaper to take taxis around Hollywood. Parking on a Friday and Saturday could be $20 certain places! $20 to park, and $13 for a watered down drink.

It 's an Icon. The main man, Billy Shire, has been at it for They have been at it for over 25 years. Doing outsider/art brut...and what became "lowbrow'. Instrumental in much of the art we see today. It seems like everyone had their first show there. last month, I went to the Big Daddy Ed Roth retrospective.

They also stock an amazing assortment of toys, vintage posters, art books, music, graphic journals, etc.... it should be on everyone's list of things to do.
