This is news to me? Print was released in 2003 as an edition of 750, 150 signed? Numbering to be fair was all over the place though, care to elaborate?

Make sure you get full provenance, check with POW etc.. as to me it looks dink, anyone else?

From what I can see of it the Signature looks awful, there was never an edition of 50 signed!

It could be an A/P or a gift to fellow artist, but again I have never seen one of these as an A/P or 'gift' up for sale before!

I wouldn't buy it, plenty of good copies with rock solid prov out there!!

given how little most of us really know about Banksy prints(Pest Control, Laz, POW, a book please), i wouldn't call anything outrightedly dink. I will say this may not look 'normal' and that more knowledgable folk than us should be consulted.

I'd suggest that a gift or an A/P wouldn't ever be numbered /50 - also PUD's info on these things is always good and the signature does look a bit strange when enlarged.

When enquired about my signed WSM, i got this reply from Dora...

"The edition of this print is 750; 150 signed and 600 unsigned. Nowadays
we would insist on this being numbered out of 150 to clearly state that
it is from the signed edition but back then it wasn't so clear so we see
a lot numbered from the whole edition.

Just to clarify what Dora is talking about, my signed WSM is labelled XX/750, whereas some signed versions appear to be labelled xx/150.

Ditto, mine is **/750, only the first 150 signed though!

Yeah, my signed Happy Chopper is **/750, although there were only 150 signed. Seems to be the case with many early prints.

i bought this print from POW in 2003 for (i think) just over £100 and have had it hanging on my wall ever since.

it's signed and numbered (lower than 80) andin mint condition.
After reading this forum it's clear that it's worth now more than I paid for it and i'm starting to think I should insure it.

Can someone tell me roughly what it's worth at the moment?
I have submitted pictures to POW to get it authenticated but that shouldn't be a problem as I am the original buyer and can verify the CC used to buy it with.

Does anyone know how long it usually takes for prints to be authenticated? the email response i got said it might take a while, but id like to know if that means weeks/months/or years

I see there's currently an ebay auction which has the estimated sale price up to £6000! and that's for a print with a much higher number than mine.

Any help would be appreciated.

Fair point. I only saw it in the last 100 posts. Didn't want to sound like I was having a go.

I'm sure someone will be interested in this as the provenance sounds like it will all be there. If you dont get any offers I'm sure you will get a good price for it on e-bay. I would recommend doing an auction rather than a buy it now price though as they get more interest.

I dont think the number makes any difference in the price so it will be a good comparison on the one that is there, if that sells at that price!!!

do people often have problems getting provenance? i mean, is it hard to get provenance - or is it always pretty clear to them which are fake and which arn't. Id hate to have problems with it, but i guess it's worth doing anything i have to to get it.

as for that auction, im sure £5000-£6000 must be an over-estimate surely. from what i've read elsewhere, it seems a price of approx £2500-£3000 is more appropriate.

Not sure about provenance as never had to do it but I'm sure POW will let you know either way.

As for the price yeah that's definitely an over estimate. Just had a quick look and the one on e-bay at the moment is sitting there at £2500. Probably too much. But I dont really know that much about it.

Like I say the best bet to get a true reflection of current value is to do an auction and see what it goes for. Concrete provenance will obviously help this.

Weston Banksy print for sale on net

A PICTURE of Weston created by world-famous graffiti artist Banksy has gone on sale on the Internet for more than £3,000.

A print of the piece called Weston-Super-Mare was added to popular auction site eBay for three days before it was taken off and put on sale on an art collector site.

The current owner of the print, Charlie Henderson from south London, collects artwork as a hobby and has priced the piece at £3,499.

The 36-year-old said: "This is a very unwilling sale.

"I want to buy an original piece by another artist known as SPQR and I need to sell this one so I can.

"I put the Banksy print on eBay to see what sort of response it would get and then put it onto the Auction Saboteur site, which is especially for graffiti artwork.
