Banksy in Palestine π΅πΈ, by Deleted on Nov 2, 2017 18:32:47 GMT 1, The recent anti Israel piece today in the news has me wondering will Banksy prices tank in the future as he upsets many of his buyers especially as in the art world many Jewish people are Banksy collectors. Although Banksy has a huge fan base when artists or musicians take strong stances politically people are often reluctant to part with the money as feel it goes against their values to support an artist with a strong position against what they stand for. Of course people who share the same view will like him more but think there will be a trade off. This post has really wound me up
I wonder if he would give a fuck
I certainly don't

Picasso was a member of the French communist party and received the Stalin Peace Prize from the Soviet government at the height of the cold war. Did the monetary value of his work suffer as a result?

First, You talk about prices, prices, prices... $$$$ ... Banksy is an artist, not a value ( I know that for 70 % here, he is, but not for me sorry and for the other 30 % ).
But this one !!
"... as he upsets many of his buyers especially as in the art world many Jewish people are Banksy collectors "
Hi man ( or woman ) we are not anymore in the last century, near 1939, before and/or after, Its incredible to say in 2017 : money= Jewish people ?!
This thread should be already deleted by the mods or by Daniel S. I don't understand also people answering to this silly question about money, etc... Thank you @bren for your reaction !

Could we read in the initial comment another words or thoughts that we have read ?
Should Banksy collectors ( who are they, anyway ? Wildenstein ? Wertheimer ? Rothschild ? - as we are back in the years ) are already " spotted " ?
Well, peace.

Banksy in Palestine π΅πΈ, by loother on Nov 4, 2017 0:40:37 GMT 1, I think conflating Judaism with support for the policies of the Israeli government - or any single viewpoint for that matter - is at best wildly misguided, and really should be avoided. And I also think the focus on the Balfour declaration, and on the idea that Britain (among others) deserves to shoulder at least some of the responsibility for the problems still affecting the area, is really anything but anti-Israeli. And finally, "In the art world many Jewish people are Banksy collectors"? In general I find the original post extremely troubling. I'll look on the bright side and dismiss it as ignorance, but it's taking a bit of effort.

We are agree. Β Apart that we can't make shortcuts wit Isis ;Β the comparizon between Israel Extrem Right/zionism is a bit hasardous I would say, even if I condamn fermly Zionism, political side, the secret and offensive Mossad, etc...
Isi/Daesch/El are terrorists, kiling all over the world, even their own.
I don't know if my answer is appropriate or wrong, I understand what you mean, Palestine must te be free, but we know that this argument is also - desperatly -Β the one of primar antisemitism for the common people - that do'nt make the difference. As In the other side, imbecile people that reduceΒ Muslims to fanatics !
Macron , the French president made a scandal telling this summerΒ : www.google.fr/amp/www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/emmanuel-macron-anti-zionism-anti-semitism-israel-jewish-state-france-president-racism-attacks-a7844711.html%3famp

Hmmmmπ€ Think he has the morals and courage to express his views in the right place When you become in his position you have power to express personal views to a wide audience , positive or negative, in this case positive , all relative , itβs facts ,itβs happening, Average joe would not go out of his way to find info in that part of the world. Although it's easy to express such altruism when your a multimillionaire street artist with worldwide fame. Less easy when your holding down a normal job. Every opinion is relative - you think it positive, I'm sure an Israeli would be less positive.
Your never going to please everyone , the smaller voice sometimes needs a helping hand, Just presenting facts and up to the visitors to digest and come to their own conclusions , some say may be biased on the sides of the story presented in the hotel but wealth of knowledge is on the net to dig further if interested to understand both sides .

Banksy in Palestine π΅πΈ, by moron on Nov 7, 2017 15:05:46 GMT 1, I doubt Banksy value will be affected. Didn't a Rockefeller buy Banksy phone booth? If so then Banksy's sorted with Rockefeller backing.
Banksy is smart enough to not accuse Israel of anything directly. With the Hotel he is bearing witness. He is far from being a Norman Finkelstein, whose career has been affected by his views.
It's true that many famous artists through the years have been Jewish and the major dealers and gallerists Jewish too. It's very easy for an artist to have the doors closed on them if they don't play the game as Chuck Connelly found out. As did Gary Oldman in Hollywood.
If art is only based on marketing and financial value, then who gives a f**k about the art and about the artist. Brainwash is a monkey who knows which banana to eat and he makes a lot of money.
Whats funny regarding Banksy is Harvey Weinstein slagged off Banksy. With Hairy Wankstain being a big connected mogul.

So much for artists actually pandering to the very wealthy and earning their support.
Saatchi a connected mega wealthy investor created the Hirst and Emin we know today with his viral marketing campaign. The media is often in on it and the public fall for it. It's just a manipulation for the wealthy to become more wealthy. They love having ownership and control over their performing monkeys.
