I know POW provide a receipt etc...
But requiring provenance on a fucking poster is ludicrous...
"Hello Athena, yeah the tennis lady scratching her arse poster, I want to buy one of some other company who said they got it from you, can you tell me if they did or not..."

Banksy • Soup Cans Poster, by bonesy on Feb 9, 2008 14:43:27 GMT 1,
I asked them if they had a bulk discount avail on them (and the Bast's that are sitting there) awhile back and was told they do not offer bulk discounts to anyone. I wouldnt be surprised if allposters printed these up themselves, copyrights for pussies, right? POW's is a rather thick poster stock. My guess would be that Allposters would be a thinner stock than POWs.

The POW ones were about as thin as you can get. Mine was anyway.
I have had thicker kebab leaflets dropped through the door!

Banksy • Soup Cans Poster, by xtinaw on Feb 9, 2008 14:45:49 GMT 1, I wasn't asking for Provenance.
But who knows I've already seen one sell for 80 quid on Ebay so you're telling me they'd have got that without saying it was originally purchased from POW?! I don't think so. They may end up rocketing more than that one day. Who knows. So just leave us to it Mike.

Banksy • Soup Cans Poster, by mammal2 on Feb 9, 2008 14:47:23 GMT 1, POW supply provenance on everything, but you have to ask them. Nothing from POW comes with a certificate or anything, its only in peoples email as a receipt and these would be easy to fake. They know who has bought what, so if you give them a ring and say is the banksy litho at xxx place real and you give them the address, they will confirm it.
Hi remember me from Ghetto 06. Yeah, can I have prov for the poster I got on Sat!

Were not all of those micallefs from Laz last year just expensive posters?

Banksy • Soup Cans Poster, by bonesy on Feb 9, 2008 14:49:24 GMT 1, In ordering these to the US shipping for each poster was more than the actual cost of the poster. AND POW shipped 5 posters and 5 stickers to me in 1 tube, I paid like $75 in shipping for that 1 tube.

Banksy • Soup Cans Poster, by Octopus UK on Feb 9, 2008 14:49:25 GMT 1, This is like the Damien Hirst signed posters, we thought there were only 50, then along comes another 50, and another 50, ...
Unless the items are numbered then the run is unlimited. Also anyone can produce copies and as long as the copies are good no one will be able to tell the difference. I bought one of these soup can posters last year, so presumably POW know I bought one and and I have a receipt from POW. I could esily buy these copies and, using a photocopier, manufacture lots of copies of this receipt to accompany each poster I sell for twice the price I paid for a copy.
In summary it's a poster with an image on it, enjoy it for what it is and don't get hung up on where it's come from.

Banksy • Soup Cans Poster, by Ron Goldsurfer on Feb 9, 2008 15:36:23 GMT 1, Flipping heck.... can't someone else try and explain!!!! I guess it wasn't so unlimited then. Or maybe they just took it off sale. Either way it's no longer available from POW.
If POW wanted they could easily call the printer and order a new batch of prints for almost no cost and have it for sale again.
POW, why not call the printer and put these flippers out of business ;D

Sorry, I thought those poster was produced cheap by machines in CMYK to keep the costs down and not handpulled silk screen prints... Do POW also print the post cards themself?
But what the hell do I know, I have never been to POW and seen their facility. Cause I my idiot thought they were only doing traditional art prints by hand. And therefor assumed they let someone else do the posters.

Banksy • Soup Cans Poster, by flypitcher on Feb 9, 2008 22:05:40 GMT 1, Look there is only one original. Everything else is a copy. Go most places in London and you can buy better quality than POW, even on canvas with sharper colours. Get over the original and enjoy the image.

Banksy • Soup Cans Poster, by JonW on Feb 10, 2008 0:27:33 GMT 1, Provenance on a poster... well POW gave me one for free once when I bought a shed load of stuff off them (I basically maxxed my ccard that day)... so it defo not on the receipt... ahh well.
Funny thing... when these posters came out (SG04) they went immediately on ebay and sold for up to £80 until people worked out these werent prints... I think POW were a bit taken aback by that as well. I was one of the idiots who paid over the odds for one at £25

Also if you don't fancy spending £39 and have convinced yourself they are all the same then check out allposters.co.uk and look for their discounts often 15 to 20%.

Banksy • Soup Cans Poster, by beau on Mar 16, 2008 11:48:08 GMT 1, are we not talking about the 'unlimited' poster that was on POW for ages - £9.99 that did actually sell out and was produced no more? not a screenprint, not stamped or marked in anyway - i believe?
