If this is a real sale then no takers at 17k is quite unbelievable. However the lack of COA will be putting people off.

this is 70% below that

The interesting thing about such large falls in values recently is that for the first time probably ever, primary buyers of Banksy work are sat on losses.

I suspect anything bought via PC or directly from the studio in the last 5 years is either worth close to or below what was paid

This is a bad business model

Agree the market has dipped, but you can't really use that logic against a print without a COA. That itself comes with its own drop.

It's sad, really sad...
Is it because tokens, discord, japanese artists and market, Hirst, Heni, NFT etc etc... People put their money n Toys, hype etc, rather than to buy good old prints.
Anyway, I know where my heart is still ( Banksy, Dolk, Evol, POw etc etc )

edit : even if you have a COA at your name, I heard that PC does not update them to the new owner, that's it ?

Even with this sale at a great price, at £16,000 no-one is sitting on a loss.

It's an image.. I mean Fuzzyduck121 just wanted to show that prints ' market from Banksy to Invader ( apart again for big art trust as Heni/Hirst, NFT etc ) have lost more than the half (the triple) of their value in (around) one year (few months ?) ... And its not finished...  Those (we are a lot here) that bought them as an heritage or  investment for their kids per example have something to worry about...

So I am asking ( a lot of collectors have too much prints under the bed, and their walls are not enough large ) , why to wait or to buy today next Invader print per example ?

Street-art market is not like contemporary one, which always has fluctuations, it is on the downward slope...

Who made this happened (without to be a complotist)?

This is a very interesting point Lroy.
I honestly don't think I have an answer, but as a collector I am a bit worried too.
All that I've purchased in these years, just for the sake of my personal pleasure and with the money I had in my pokets at the time of purchase, has now reached a significant value and I wonder what to do for the future.
I assume that there will be fluctuations like in other artistic areas, but this might not be the case. As a result, I dont feel confident in making new purchases.
Moreover, it looks like the good old works and artists (e.g. the Paul Insect Sins or targets,  or anything related to Bast) have faded away from memory and from the market.

Banksy is blue chip, the Basquiat/Haring/Warhol of our time. Yes, prices have come down from two years ago, but we all know that most assets were inflated by all the stimulus pumped in to the system and now we have the hangover not helped by high interest rates employed to lower inflation. Money went into art, cars, watches, real estate, stock market, now the tap has been turned off and the party is over.

There is now a pull back where investors are sitting on their hands waiting for the sales and picking of pieces.  The Warhol market in the 90's was in the doldrums as was the whole art market. It all came back and Haring/Warhol/Basquiat prices and desirability is as strong as ever. Countries are debasing their currencies and the rich will soon start buying assets again.

I'd be interested in hearing who they think is a more influential living artist than Banksy. There are more books, film, and interest in him than any other living artist. Even at this mid career level, he has done enough to secure his place in history. Let not forget his pieces have sold for over $20 million.

There are very few original works for sale, no one is selling them cheap. If they are please point them out.

You should be able to get £20-22K right now privately. I've been saying this for 5 years but don't understand why this print is so cheap.
