Ravi Zupa πΊπΈ New Print Release β’ Gallery Show News, by Oski on Jan 16, 2015 21:38:00 GMT 1, I first came across his work when I was looking at pictures from Miami Art Basel/Scope. Really liked his aesthetic of combining historical and world images in decidedly anachronistic ways. I look forward to adding his work to my collection this year. When I spoke with Tom at Black Book a couple of weeks back, he told me Ravi is preparing for a show in March.

You make a great point about him using historical images and motifs. He also seems to use historical printing techniques, which is what appealed to me in the first place. I've been studying the history of printing and it's great to see a contemporary artist not relying on modern automatic presses

Those were really cool and I interpret them as a reference to word being mightier than the sword. This is especially poignant in light of the recent Charlie Hebdo situation in France.

Β this one's next Right, saw that on the Black Book site. Ok, but not my favorite. But as you say there will be others.
Also: I wonder about the dimensions on these. They're all described as being 24x36, but I own many prints of that size and the LAIKA print looks more narrow, as if it's closer to 22x36. I know that's not a standard paper size, so maybe it's a just an optical illusion.

Good point. Just checked out her work and her style is highly complementary to Ravi's work. Link to some of her work for others here.

Ravi Zupa πΊπΈ New Print Release β’ Gallery Show News, by chichi carter on Jan 18, 2015 15:30:44 GMT 1, glad to hear. I picked up a couple of his pieces from his last show and love them both. Those were really cool and I interpret them as a reference to word being mightier than the sword. This is especially poignant in light of the recent Charlie Hebdo situation in France. I don't know who did them first but Eric Nado also does typewriter machine guns. I have only seen Ravi Zupa's in pictures but I personnally prefer Eric Nado's. They are made strictly from typewriter parts. C.O.A Gallery (Jean-Pascal on here) has some if you want to take a look at them. I love the ones that are made from black Underwood typewriters with the gold lettering on them.

Stepped out to handle some business and boom they were gone. Good for those who snatched them up, hopefully no flippers. If someone got two or isn't really into them please PM me I'll be happy to buy them at cost + $1.
