Banksy • Gangsta Rat Print, by Sturban Has Saggy Tits on Mar 11, 2016 17:03:40 GMT 1, Fierce Gallery is horrible. I will be writing a full review of my experience in the proper section. I'm curious to know what happened , i've made some purchases with FG in the past and Bruce has always been very helpfull and friendly
I've used Fierce before after being cautious it was online only. But I can also say I've had great service from start to finish.

Banksy • Gangsta Rat Print, by pklong17 on Mar 11, 2016 17:18:38 GMT 1, Apparently he only wants face to face deals then, and therefore pleasant experiences. We agreed to price, I offered a deposit so that he could send me the edition number and COA so that I could perform my due diligence. He said that Banksy is flying out the door and would not meet my request. PC verifies prints within a day typically and the remainder of payment would be made immediately. He replied quite nastily that he basically did not need my business nor was he interested

Obviously I don't know the full story, but maybe if you came across a bit cautious and not very trusting of him, then he probably thought it would be easier to sell elsewhere. I purchased a print of fairly high value and he even sent it double tubed for protection. I've never received another print from a gallery so well packaged. Also responds to emails very quickly. Maybe if it's a piece you really want, then bite the bullet and give it another go.

Could I ask what you were verifying with PC ? There is no liklihood that the print would be registered in the galleries name ? As long as it came with a COA I'd be content.

Banksy • Gangsta Rat Print, by pklong17 on Mar 11, 2016 18:01:20 GMT 1, Not knowing of Fierce Gallery I would liked to have verified its authenticity. Now that others have spoken to having pleasant experiences I may not have been as concerned. The response to my email stating he wasn't interested in my business is what sent me reeling. The print was initially described as mint. I received photos this morning and the corner below POW stamp is bent. He did apologize for missing that and said he would have it restored. At which point we agreed to price. He then asked that I come see the print in person, once he learned I was from the states things turned. I asked to make a deposit to secure the print, do my due diligence, and possibly have someone come view the print for me. His response was that he would not jump through any hoops as Banksy prints are flying out the door. To which I responded that I don't feel a customer request to secure the print with a deposit and perform a quick verification as I've done a few times before, was asking anything out of ordinary. I just want a mint condition GR at current value. In today's world, especially as I'm in the states and can't put my hands on the print, the only peace of mind I get is PC verification. My search continues.

Happy to check print for you if you like

Banksy • Gangsta Rat Print, by 11 on Mar 11, 2016 18:11:41 GMT 1, Given the values now being banded about, 24hrs to confirm previous ownership is not unreasonable - taking a coa on face value is a very risky gamble (IMO) as a COA is far easier to fake than a print.
I would say it should be standard practice to validate all provenance including previous or currently registered owner(s)

Thank you Manu! I appreciate the offer. We are beyond that point. Since I pointed out it wasn't mint he will be sending it out to restorer. Cheers

I just want a mint condition GR at current value. In today's world, especially as I'm in the states and can't put my hands on the print, the only peace of mind I get is PC verification. My search continues. Your desire to ensure condition and authenticity is warranted and absolutely necessary but they way in which you are going about it probably won't work with most sellers.
I always ask for detailed pictures of corners, front and back before agreeing on a sale and always wary of anyone describing a print as "mint". I find many sellers never even open or inspect framed works before they sell them. I also have a phenomenal restoration house near me so I always opt to do that work myself which keeps from burdening the seller with more work and time. Also by handling this I get to choose what actually gets done, how and by whom. If you plan on continuing to purchase pieces it would be a good idea to seek out a top restoration house by you. Lastly, I don't think any seller, private or reseller, will hold a banksy for you until you receive verification from PC. If you can't be there in person for the sale, only buy from a seller or gallery with references you trust. Then all you will need is pictures of the COA and piece to move forward.
Hope this helps and good luck in your search. G-Rat is one of my faves.

Banksy • Gangsta Rat Print, by pklong17 on Mar 11, 2016 18:52:46 GMT 1, To be clear. I did not ask for restoration, only pointed out the flaw. If I offer a deposit to secure a piece and ask to do PC verification which I have done at least 3 times and none have taken more than a couple of days, it should be honored in my opinion. I run my own business and don't think my request was anything out of the ordinary. All he did was lose a potential customer.

yep, i agree
Much easier if a customer can view, pay and collect.
That would always be my first choice, especially in a sellers market.
I am lazy, though if it was something that was proving difficult to sell, i might put in a bit of effort
Denning anyone?

Banksy • Gangsta Rat Print, by pklong17 on Mar 11, 2016 22:16:41 GMT 1, I'm sorry if I've come off as a bit of a t**t. I never in a million years imagined chasing after a piece of paper like this and feeling like a child who can't find his favorite toy. And every time I think I have my hands on it, it's snatched from me. I have learned several lessons on the journey.
