Question about a Paul Insect print's authenticity!, by jcookgurl on Sept 26, 2016 22:38:57 GMT 1, Does anyone know if the print Trouble had any printers proofs or APs? It was a print from 2011/ an edition of 50. I recently acquired one, with provenance detailing back to Post No Bills where the print was printed...apparently this one belonged to the son of the owner...however, mine is not signed, which seems strange...any input would be appreciated!!
Many thanks!

Question about a Paul Insect print's authenticity!, by 11 on Sept 26, 2016 23:50:09 GMT 1, It's rare to have an edition without PP's and AP's but they are normally marked as such...and signed. Does it have the PNB chop mark?.....it might be a 'Back-Door' print

Thanks for the reply...so, it has no marking whatsoever. We just unframed it...it's a beautiful print, just without any marks from the printer or artist. I emailed Paul insect, trying to get his take on it. Hopefully he will respond.

Question about a Paul Insect print's authenticity!, by jusdeep on Sept 27, 2016 20:41:00 GMT 1, If it's not a signed AP or PP (and they would be signed!), then it's a backdoor and is worth a fraction of the editions value.

Uh huh but that means he's like some sort of art star? I tell you right away I don't want my Trouble Lady to become an coffee cup phone case or sumting like that. Has anyone ever seen a PINS backdoor print before this one? I have not

Question about a Paul Insect print's authenticity!, by 11 on Sept 28, 2016 21:08:30 GMT 1, Every edition has an over-run so the print house / gallery can deal with any damaged or lost prints, sometimes they might be used in the show for display purposes . They are supposed to be destroyed but theres always a chance that one or more can 'escape'.....i suspect this was maybe kept as a souvenir, exchanged with someone else that wasn't aware of the 'arrangement' and then it has eventually found its way into the open.

I've seen 'backdoor' (though they ought to be called 'stolen') Who To Believe prints, and there are Star Eyes prints out there too, although the latter are alleged to be recently made copies originating from upstate New York.

Question about a Paul Insect print's authenticity!, by jusdeep on Sept 28, 2016 21:21:29 GMT 1, That's what I just said :-) so did I lol. I was just confirming that there are back doors that exist and that if they aren't signed then they aren't AP's or PP's. I've seen a few over the years - not many thankfully. Mainly by way of printers Paul uses or even test proofs or digital proofs of works - probably down to someone who's had access to digital files at some point, liked the image, run one out and have sold at a later date.

I find your comment to to imply I am unclean thus offensive. P.s I showered 13 minutes ago..
