Yes, significant increase in price. That said, so far as I have seen, the auction results for the last release suggests that they were sold at a bargain price.

I'd say these are priced 'about right'. The sumo prints were undervalued for sure and represented a very good buy. However, this is the only place you'll be able to pick up a signed Hockney print from a primary source at this price. New prints are carefully controlled through his five (or so) worldwide galleries and, at last pricing, were $20k plus VAT.

If you look at auction results of the last release (print only) the results vary between 5k and 11k include premium.

From that subtract 25% premium and then about 15% sellers fees once vat and insurance etc are taken into account.

So 7k is ok I suppose, personally think it’s on the high side and seems they are cutting out the secondary market which is fair enough! Print A and B are quite wall friendly though if a little bland.

I remember all art brokers hoovering up the last release, dominic guerrini alone must have had over 10 copies but no so sure they will be buying this time.

The gallery release prints are low editions (ed 20 maybe) so that would justify the higher price points

My wife comes from Bradford and we (although we've lived down south for over 30 years) regularly visit Salts.  In fact, those visits gave birth to our passion for collecting Hockney works.  The collection there is terrific and underlines what a genius and pioneer DH is (IMHO).

There's a great book on JS's development of Salts and, in particular, his friendship with DH.
