New Banksy???, by becksaboo on May 18, 2007 8:23:56 GMT 1, PA are reporting a new Banksy but I thought this was done ages ago- I'll try and find a pic.
BANKSY MURAL ON THE MARKET By PA A provocative mural by controversial street artist Banksy is catching the eye of commuters. A graffiti-style image that appears to show a young girl being pulled into a cash machine by a robotic arm appeared on a bricked up window in Exmouth Market, Finsbury, north London. Banksy, who made his name in his native Bristol, has never been afraid to make political or topical statements in his trademark graffiti-style work. Last year he left a life-size replica of a Guantanamo Bay detainee at Disneyland, and decorated Israel's controversial West Bank barrier with satirical images of life on the other side of the wall. One of his stunts was a small rock painting of a caveman pushing a supermarket trolley that spent several days in the British Museum before officials spotted it. His latest effort could be a comment on high street banks making record profits or their apparent reluctance to repay customers unfair penalty charges. Banksy's work has become increasingly sought-after and fashionable in recent years. Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie reportedly spent more than #200,000 on work by Banksy at Los Angeles sale last year. Other fans of the artist include Brad Pitt, Jude Law and Keanu Reeves.

Another nice piece of misinformation from the press.

Notice there aren't any quotes from his spokesperson or anyone else to confirm it's a new one.
Be interesting to see which papers (if any) pick up on this.

New Banksy???, by Curley on May 18, 2007 10:27:08 GMT 1, Must be a slow news day or all the papers are desperate to carry banksy stories.
Monday three of the london papers carried stories of the bungling thieves that destroyed the rats in whitechapel.
I took this in September last year and it has been up a while then

September last year? Wow. That banksy is SO last season then. Should be out with the Ugg boots then, no?

New Banksy???, by Strange Al on May 18, 2007 10:33:53 GMT 1, That's the idea of Press Association articles. Members can re-print them in their papers without the need to do any extra work/research. It's basically cheap copy.
The cash machine part of this work is actually in Wall and Piece. It's the image with the actual paper di-faced notes coming out of it. The girl and mechanical arm was added some time later, but has been a feature of the image for ages. I've actually always wondered whether these additional elements were added by Banksy himself. The style and quality of the girl is somewhat different to his other images of children. Though, I think it was him. I'm sure someone else will be able to confirm.

As mentioned, the original piece was covered in D-Faced notes.
