awww Francis how I love you so. Definately the best UK artist ever in my book. Did anyone ever see the south bank show interview? You cant help falling in love with the ole bugger if you watch it.

He is one of the greatest artists the world has ever seen. I am a huge fan of bacon and frank auerbach. Those 2 stand out to me as 2 of the cream of the 20th century. Sadly it is impossible for us ordinary folk to get anything other than a print by bacon, although if you are shrewd with some purchases of up and coming artists work it is possible to get an auerbach canvas. I believe his stuff will sky rocket when he dies, especially as his output is so small.

If you are an art investor look out for Auerbachs preperation sketches, you can pick them up for about a grand if you are really lucky and in the long run they will be selling for ridiculous amounts. Bacons work was hardly setting records in the early 90's, but now a small gouche on paper work would get you high six figures minimum.

Just read an article, same exhibit that was shown at the Tate is coming to NYC. From what I have heard this is going to be an amazing and thorough show, quite a lot of canvases and the inspiration for them (pictures taken from his studio) are also there

The Tate show was an amazing and moving experience, I would highly recommend going to this. But you probably already knew that...

Any NY friends would do themselves well to check out this exhibit too. I'm currently trying to work it into my work schedule as my eyes have never stood in front of a 40 inch Turquoise Marilyn and this would be on the short list of must sees in the art world for me personally.

That collection has been put together VERY quickly. Cohen has made his billions in hedge funds and has built that collection mostly over the past 7 or 8 years. The Turquoise Marilyn was purchased for $80 million in '07 froma Chicago collector. Many of the others were purchased from Wynn and David Geffen. Cohen has not been shy and gone guns a blazing building that remarakable collection in very short order.

ONLY JUST FOUND THIS CHEERS COACH.....not far from us!!

Took myself and my youngest to this on Monday.
Bit pricey to get in, when we are used to shows being free. £8 per adult, £2 for a kid.
Well worth a visit though, if you are Midlands based - its quite near Stratford in warwickhire.
Some beautiful Bacon paintings on display - perhaps 20, maybe a little less. Lots of photos too.
Good book to accompany the show too.

I picked up a few copies of their "What's On" brochures, as they have a great Bacon image on the front - if anyone wants one, pm your address. Also picked up a spare copy of the small exhibition guide (no pics though - you gotta buy the book for that). If anyone wants that, you will be more than welcome.

Worth a visit - go on a nice day if poss cos the gallery is such a beautiful building, in gorgeous grounds. Pics of the gallery on the website

I bought this from the Francis Bacon exhibition at the Tate Britain in 2008, where they had a license to reproduce 2 or 3 of the pieces from the exhibition for the duration of the show.

It's a legally reproduced art canvas of 'Three Figures & Portrait', 1975 and I'm looking for £100 delivered.
