Best Wall Paint Color in Grey, by maseo7 on May 15, 2016 16:51:24 GMT 1, What do you guys reckon is the best wall paint gallery in Grey to display your framed art to make it pop? Sorry if this is not a good area to place this post but I was looking to re-paint soon. If you know the brand and the specific name of the color that would be great, plus a pic would be even better! Thanks guys!

Best Wall Paint Color in Grey, by dodsi on May 15, 2016 22:18:16 GMT 1, F&B is just expensive and not particularly good. I have this on good authority from my brother-in-law whom is in the trade and regularly is asked to use F&B and says it is really not very good compared to Dulux Trade paint (the word 'trade' being key here - not the normal range) which he swears by.
I am currently refurbishing my place and using Dulux Trade Grey Steel 4 under strict instruction! - no pictures currently as all my art is off the walls whilst things get finished up. No 4 in the range is the lightest, you can, in addition get 3 - 1 with 1 being the darkest. However - you can have this stuff mixed up to any colour you wish.
I am incredibly happy with the outcome of the works here.

Best Wall Paint Color in Grey, by Cardiff on May 16, 2016 1:47:21 GMT 1, We've used a Dunn Edwards grey called "Shady" in our last few houses...reads as white-ish during the day and a little more grey at night. It's a bright, modern grey that doesn't feel cold or have any traces of blue.
We had over 30 swatches of greys painted on the wall before we selected this one...despite my OCD, I've never looked back.

Best Wall Paint Color in Grey, by dodsi on May 16, 2016 8:51:10 GMT 1, The dulux trade we are using is actually more expensive than the f&b stuff it appears. No money saving tip just better quality.
But from an art conservation point of view we are using the mouldshield stuff which is anti fungal so there is no risk of any mould growing behind any pictures.

Best Wall Paint Color in Grey, by stillborncrisps on May 16, 2016 11:54:03 GMT 1, F&B is just expensive and not particularly good.
It depends what is meant by 'good'.
Every painter and decorator I've spoken to or read on DIY forums hates Farrow & Ball because it's so much more difficut to apply than more regular paint (Dulux, etc), due to its more 'chalky' consistency.
Therefore I'm usually told that Dulux is 'better', ie easier/quicker for them get the job done.
If you've got kids, F&B would not be 'good' because it marks so easily compared to regular wipeable paint.
But... You can colour match all you like, F&B has a matt finish and that the regular paints just don't have. And within the whites, the subtleties in shades cannot be matched by Dulux - they just find a 'nearest neighbour' from their own million colours, which sounds like a lot of colours but in reality isn't. In my experience the matching of whites has been way off the F&B colour. It depends how picky you are.

It is definitely worth the extra money over F&B if it means there is less chance of me re-painting. In terms of the matt finish on the Dulux Trade - it's very flat.
As a side note, paying somebody to apply multiple coats because it cannot cover as well is a large amount of extra money to pay for something that ultimately won't also wear as well. Even paying mates rates my decorating bill is running very high!
