Nobody buys out of date soup, it's cheap enough anyway + the sale by date on canned stuff is like forever shouldn't be on the shops shelfs long enough to go out of date.

I really like tinned tomato soup although I think this is reduced because the idea is over 50 years out of date?

Says you. The bigger question is who are you to make such a statement? I think it's the best take on a Warhol print in years. It's simple, yet clearly a statement on how simplistic art regarding everyday things has been blown way out of proportion. Warhol's soup can was and in my opinion continues to be way overblown in it's statement and it's value. Zedsy's take on Warhol's piece is not only brilliant but the resonation of satire reverberates nothing less than David vs Goliath. I for one think that this piece has balls and is a testament to new urban art challenging the the so called status quo and redefining values in the art community itself. Realize that it's not easy to take on a giant but I applaud anyone who tries. To me it joyfully says f**k Warhaol and the art establishment. Don't get me wrong I think Warhol did some great art however, I personally think his soup can was just pure s**t.  I for one couldn't be prouder of Zedsy.

 People will buy it who know who Warhol is and have seen his soup cans. I agree it's not expensive and it's a screenprint so has flip potential.

But imagine how fresh this work would be if, conceptually, it had been intended as a demonstration of self-awareness by the artist — a recognition of his own limitations when it comes to original thought.

Well, I'm going to stick my neck out and admit that I like this.
I like it because it made me laugh. I still find it amusing, perhaps I'm easily amused.
I like art that has a sense of fun, a sense of humour, art which does'nt take it's self too seriously.
If your not completely skint, it's also affordable.
So there you go, affordable and fun.
Surely a winning combination.

This. I'm sorry if this ruffles feathers, but I don't get what would motivate anyone to buy this trash, besides thinking zedsy will become the next banksy (laughable at best.) It's not creative or unique to do a "take" (see: appropriating) warhol soup cans.

And maybe you're right. But maybe the reason for that is that most artists with even a shred of artistic integrity moved on from doing warhol-inspired work years ago.

If anything, yet another warhol-inspired piece of art actually upholds the status quo in the urban art world. That status quo being, "why create something original when you can tweak someone else's work and call it your own." The first person that did their take on the cans was maybe redefining values in the art world. At this point, the artists still doing it are just scraping the bottom of the barrel of bad ideas.

Realize that it's not easy to take on a giant but I applaud anyone who tries. 

I applaud artists that try to create original works, original concepts, because it's much more difficult, and the task deserves much more respect.

Andy died 30 or so years ago. Why are we saying fuck him? His "pure shit soup" cans are the only reason this actual shit screenprint exists in the first place. And for that matter, Banksy is the only reason zedsy exists. I mean seriously, go back and look at this shit. The guy rips off C215's logo, banksy's signature, then rips off banksy's stunt to try and sell this trash, and you're still defending him?

I really don't know what to say to that.

It's funny reading some of the comments on art like this it just shows how much this scene has changed or maybe a better description is how people have changed.
I feel so many people now are more about protection of their art investments, rather than being open minded to new artists.

I'm open to new artists that try to do new things. I'm unabashedly closed minded when it comes to derivative designers. I won't ever call Zedsy an artist. It's an insult to a lot of real artists out there.

Banksy is the benchmark for the urban art world in the same way that Warhol was the benchmark for the pop art world. And along the way, there have been a lot of zedsy's in both movements. But I can't remember any of their names, much like I imagine most people will not remember zedsy's name in a few years.

I'd prefer and hope anyone with even the slightest knowledge of art and concept of originality would have stayed within 100 yards of a fkin soup can for a copy-cat stunt. I don't even want to expand on releasing it as a print. Just god awful on all levels.
