Hey Everyone,

I have finally enough money to get into the Banksy market.

I know I should be buying art I love, but I love them all

From a pure investment point of view, which could be worth more in 5-10 years?

1. Buy 1 Love Rat or Gangsta Rat Unsigned - Current Market value = £8K
OR
2. Buy 2 Prints (i.e. Grannies & Morons) - Current Market value = £4K each

What would you do?

Rats are now £8k GBP ? Is that real, that means they would have more than doubled in price less then 12 months.

I would have thought you could get one for £6k and then you only have to save up another £2k to get yourself a 2nd (future thread : grannies v morons )

Hey 11, long time!

Yes, from what I have seen all Banksy prints have doubled in the last year! Crazyness!! I need to get in now or never!! Morons is like £4, Flags is like £2.5 and all rats are around £8!!

I'd be totally down for your plan if I could find the right seller

Go with the Rats hands down. Odds are they will continue to out pace your other alternatives and on the other side much easier to liquidate should you want to roll into something else or just cash out. Congrats to your entry into the madness and delight that is the B market.

Save another 2k to buy a signed print

I would go with an unsigned print of a popular iconic image, Laugh Now, Barcode or a rat. Thats only if you like the image, that way if the market softens you'll have a print you actually like and if the market keeps going from strength to strength and I personally think it will. My view is that the iconic images will be the most sought after and will gain the most in price.
That being said I do like the idea of getting a signed print, as I think ultimately people want a signed print if possible. But as we all know signed prints of the most popular images are substantially more that their unsigned counterparts.

I just don't think you will be happy with two lower end prints and I think you'll have a harder time if you ever have to sell. Just my thoughts.

I own a love rat and wouldn't value it at 8k dude like 11 says more like 6k tops

Save 2k more and get a signed print, they can be found. Theres a GR at the moment at that level on here.

Buy the print you like most....... Never buy a print based on an investment point of view imo.

You might pick up a colour trolleys for around that price just to complicate your plan
