Banksy Street Art • Les Miserables, by overend on Jan 25, 2016 21:50:16 GMT 1, if someone wants to re-post this on their instagram as theirs at least credit me or the forum at least and not delete my comment when challenged. just bad manners. i made the effort to go out and take this. People have no shame and think they can take it regardless, why they cant have the basic courtesy to at least credit the original photographer is beyond me - someone even submitted one of my pics to the Banksy Pictures of Walls site - I would watermark all mine if there was a simple app that could just go through and apply to all but you have to edit each individual photo so tend not to bother But seriously, if people are that impressed by a photo that they would like to use it the least they can do is say Thank you - seems those that do this are only interested in gaining likes / followers / pokes and will do anything they can to get it
Totally agree. Jo Brooks PR used one of my photos during Dismaland without any acknowledgement. Be careful!

Banksy Street Art • Les Miserables, by Harveyn on Jan 25, 2016 21:54:10 GMT 1, An offensive and sweeping generalisation that certainly at best has racist undertones.
So you obviously are also referring to all migrants including the British citizens who have migrated to other countries to find work and/or better living conditions. They also in your eyes are just looking for a free house and are also moaning about the colour of their doors.
As clearly this is not the implied meaning to you post then I am afraid this is indeed a racist comment.
I will discuss this with the powers at be as to their thoughts and how this should be handled. I would also like to remind all forum members that racist comments will not be tolerated.
Twist my post round how you want. I don't know any British citizens who have migrated to other countries and demanded free house and money from the country they migrated too. If you are talking about economic migrants my point is that they should be treated by the country that they go to the same way the country treats it's own citizens. They should not be given privelidged status or jump the queu. I know people who moved to the UK from EU countries and struggled including being homeless in the UK for a long time before they got any assitsance from the state or accomodation. None of my posts are racist despite what you want others to think. What is racist is when people say that migrants who arrive in European countries have more rights than the citizens of those countries. So answer this question. Seing as you know so much about migrants today. Why are they heading for Germany, the UK and Sweden? Whats wrong with France and other european countries? As for the migrants complaining about the color of their front doors, did not they get a free house, isn't that what they are living in. Now to the part about genuine refugees. I have always stated that refugees who are genuine and processed should be helped and given housing and safe accomodation in all european countries. Now to the aprt about migrants who are not refugees. How about you tell me how many of thes emigrants who are the majority young men from a lot of countries that have arrived in Europe and head for Germany Sweden Uk are actually genuine and should be helped. Maybe you can answer some points before accusing me of racism. Nice try but plain talk and raising some points and facts is not racism. So tell me how many of these male migrants arriving in Europe heading for UK would you give free housing too? Personally they are more than welcome as I have nothing against migrants who contribute to society. They are more than welcome to come to Europe find a job support themselves and pay rent like everybody else does in Europe. Whats so special about these guys? maybe you can answer that too. People migrate all the time for a better life. I know people who moved abroad, worked hard struggled did not get a penny from the state or free housing and made a new life abroad. I have done it too, moved to France, have not asked for a penny from teh state or free housing, work using my skills to support myself pay rent and demand no special treatment. Regarding outsiders I have had my car vandalised in France because it had British number plates. There are idots everywhere who don't like outsiders. I like variety diversity and have no problem at all with migrants. I also hope that with all the migrants coming to europe that they will integrate and adopt western european values of democracy equality for all and equality and respect of women. Now heres a final question for you with connections to the powers that B. is that a B for Banksy propaganda? Should migrants integrate and adopt the cultural values of the country they migrate to? or should we adapt to the migrants cultural values? Lets see your answers before calling me a racist.
I will repeat once again that neither racist or xenophobic comments will be tolerated, whether they are explicit or implied.
I am positive I do not need to define what racist or xenophobic comments are but all members please ensure that if you choose to make a derogatory comment that is not seen to be against one or a particular group of nationalities or countries.

Banksy Street Art • Les Miserables, by Deleted on Jan 25, 2016 22:02:57 GMT 1, @elviswarhol Please stop with the one sentence per paragraph thing. It's giving me a headache. edit: Also, stop talking for German women. You're not a German woman.
I'm far from a German women and the role of a countries leader should be the protection of it's citizens and of the state. Not to cover up and blame the victims.
All that will do is lead to riots.
I made the point that when it came to these attacks en mass by migrants on women, everyone went quiet and avoided the subject. Now isn't that racist in itself.
Not one person who attacked me has the courage to admit that these attacks on women are racist and there is a problem with some cultural values of migrants.
Of course it's easier to just ignore the proble and blame the victims.

So how about answering some of my points instead of targetting me.
Are you saying that it is xenophobic or racist to say that the women in Cologne that were assaulted and raped by 1000 plus African Arab migrants is racist?
Or that the huge increase of rape official figures for women being raped in Sweden and Norway is due to migrants to those countries?
Those are actually the official government reports.

Do you have a political agenda ?
This is just an observation but it's common knowledge that banksy donated approx 200K to the Labour party mayoral election via selling a painting of his. So I would assume this Les Miserables stencil has a left wing message too.

Banksy Street Art • Les Miserables, by Deleted on Jan 25, 2016 22:37:46 GMT 1, I have not read read all your comments ( too much complicated for me, some who has met me will understand ). Anyway, it is the strangest, even weirdest thread that I have ever read here ! We find all in it : migrants crisis ( yes it is, and the worst will come soon in France or everywhere - who have been to the Romania, Greek, German, Italian borders here, to denounce or investigate ? - , because youths are fed up and wanted to pass absolutely in UK more than never , with all their volunteeas, because it's time, because of winter, nerves, precarity, etc ... ) , we have Hugo ( sorry but this pic of Cosette for a French is a bit " used " , we saw it hundreds of times and learned it since the primary school, and the flag behind could make us remember Gavroche on the 100 Fr notes, from the ultra classic canvas of Delacroix : The Liberty guiding the people ) , we have Perspex or not Perspex, racism, xenophobia, Banksy, wood panels, security guard, Jo Brooks tweeting , etc .. Well, I have not the right ( I am exaggerating a bit ) to talk about politic because it is a forum of art, but the artwork is politic and anyway everybody talks here about Politics ! Lol Maybe Banksy was in nerves after seeing the police making an attack of the Jungle : I don't care about police - and politics - they are police and politics ( sic ) , but I think that they have done this attack because there is a new and better camp ( with caravans ) and they don't want anymore this "'jungle " - how can we accept this term ?! Terrifying ! We speak about humans ! Anyway, I think that this artwork have been made a bit quickly, I appreciate anyway the barcode flashing on the video, but, I repeat, I don't understand why ?! As I said, unfortunately, the worse will come. And to finish, as for Steve Jobs, it is not the Banksy that we are expecting ( the boat and some others as the one about UKIP were fabulous ) , artistically speaking . Just thoughts of an unusual suspect. Edit : I forgot the part about stole photos or avatars, well social media " things " happening on Facebook , Instagram etc..
Absolutely right Royston.
I know from experience that the French police can be very racist, also to the British in France. I know people who have had problems for no reason and that some police can be thugs. I don't mind if youths young men want to move to the UK following the correct procedure not hijacking lorries etc.
The biggest criminals in all of this is the EU which is making a lot of money out of this situation and the European governments some of whom have a political agenda but thats another story for the more educated.
The migrants are the victims and the migrant trafficking route from Afghanistan etc via Turkey, Balkans etc is said by some to be the same as the drug trafficking route of at east the past hundred years. Migrants are exploited by traffickers who promise to get them to the land of milk and honey whilst extorting money from them and exploiting them. They are crammed onto unsafe boats which generate thousands for the traffickers who don't care if the boats reach Europe safely or not.
Meanwhile the EU hierarchy are drinking expensive wine and entertaining the Merkels and others to encourage Europe to keep it's doors and borders open whilst ignoring the fact that hundreds of people are losing their lives and drowning each year. The EU and politicians play their chess game and use the migrants as pawns. The EU and European leaders have the money to prevent people drowning and being exploited by criminal gangs. In reality they don't care.
They could have ships patrolling the waters from where the migrants are embarking from and pick them up there and process the migrants on ships or on land and create some sort of order and prevent people drowning and prevent criminal gangs making hundreds of thousands from this exploitation.

Jo Brooks PR used one of my photos during Dismaland without any acknowledgement. Be careful! The Bitch!!

But I agree, crediting photos is the nice thing to do.

Banksy Street Art • Les Miserables, by Deleted on Jan 25, 2016 23:22:41 GMT 1, I am not sure his work should be impartial if indeed that is what is being implied. Of course there are two sides and even a fence that you can sit on. Whether you agree with the point he is making or not I think he should and always has made fairly definitive statements on his point of view. For those whose views differ then the upside is the work creates the opportunity for people to discuss and challenge. All good in my eyes. I agree and second that.

Banksy Street Art • Les Miserables, by Deleted on Jan 25, 2016 23:28:15 GMT 1, Appart from the bold placement, I find this piece excessively week. I was really hoping it would turn out not to be by Banksy First of all using a largely commercial image from a broadway Musical to represent the plight of those poor folks in Calais is an odd choice to say the least. Showing only a fraction of a video where migrants are being gassed, without context to an overall event, is below Banksy. What is the point of standing against something if you are going to use the same deceitful tactics as them ?
Apparently the video was shot by Calais Migrant Solidarity and here is their info about all this on their site. calaismigrantsolidarity.wordpress.com/
The owners of the property alledgedly tried to remove the plywood with the artwork on it and damaged the plywood. So instead they decided to cover it up. Maybe for safe keeping.

Just going to chuck my opinion in quickly as I started the thread. I like the new piece.the scan code was a great idea.and certainly got people talking and debating.some even arguing. they have been some good and bad opinions come through.thought provocing indeed. Banksy and his team have done a grand job again in my eyes.

Apparently with a crowbar. When it could have been removed with just a screwdriver.

Banksy Street Art • Les Miserables, by Dr Plip on Jan 26, 2016 0:34:09 GMT 1, OK, finally managed to figure out how to post these. I thought you've all seen the pictures of the Banksy itself I'll show you the people who were there. The guys in 4th photo were very active, on their phones, whispering, rushing back and forth to two men in suits who clearly did not want to be seen on camera. Enjoy. You guys members on here?

Banksy Street Art • Les Miserables, by Deleted on Jan 26, 2016 0:49:58 GMT 1, was it their building ploppi?or is that where u think it will be sold soon?
I've no idea who owns the building or why the buiilding boarded up. Some nice suits in the photos though. They look like dealers but they could be anybody. Even plywood enthusiasts.
I think if the building owner is not connected with Banksy they have the right to do what they want with the graffitied plywood panel.

Banksy Street Art • Les Miserables, by stillborncrisps on Jan 26, 2016 2:11:02 GMT 1, I don't get why B didn't make the piece bigger if he did indeed bring it pre-painted on the plywood, fresh from his studio?
His framing and placement is usually effortlessly spot on, but this one looks almost apologetic in size, yet it's the one time he had the chance to go large?

Banksy Street Art • Les Miserables, by Deleted on Jan 26, 2016 2:42:08 GMT 1, It's probably large in real life. A big piece of plywood and not easy to carry on a London bus or tube train.
I feel that Banksy could do so much more with stickers.
