Does anybody know about other Artists thought to be Banksy or who used to be thought or speculated as
Banksy.

Perhaps back in the 90s, a PR firm were sitting there with nothing to do, thinking "We've got all this PR just lying around, it's a shame we can't do something with it". So perhaps they came up with the idea of creating a fictitious graffiti character in order to make a bit of money for themselves, doing the PR work that they love. Then things just snowballed and they don't know how to stop it now. |

Now whether a long time ago in a galaxy far far away or Bristol a decade ago, a very rich artist had an an idea to employ or fund this up and coming artist as part of a team and a plan to create a global brand and an image and a myth could be just a rumour.

I'd like to think that a world-renowned, successful and multi-millionaire artist gets his jollies by secretly being another world-renowned, successful and multi-millionaire artist. The publicity and money this machine would make if he/she or they were to reveal themselves would be phenomenal but I wonder would the hype then start to dwindle??
How long can it go on before people loose interest......

That is very true about the pot of money and dealers turning over stock to keep the money and market moving. The auction rings too. Dealers taking stock ons ale or return is common. hat works fine untill a dealer flogs another dealers stock and does a runner with the money. Very few dealers go to the police

I know antiques dealers and the antiques trade and never being part of it. That is very true about the pot of money and dealers turning over stock to keep the money and market moving. They can break the myth because of secrecy and all this bullshit, but not the man.
That is just the opinion of a simple guy from France.

However what I am trying to do, get is not that I am looking for copycats for Banksy,
I am looking for Artists who were thought by others - collectors - fans - critiques(in any media, blog, news paper whatsoever) not who think they are "Banksy"
