Silly me and I certainly won't apologise for sticking up against bullies in the past. As you were. To me when I see someone making fraudulent claims like "Rare availability due to year of publishing," I think it's worth flagging and appreciate when others do so. It's not only disingenuous as to this transaction but is a worthwhile flag for anyone considering doing business with that individual in the future.
Standing up against bullying and deception are of the same vein and ultimately protective of others and a community as a whole. I wouldn't want anyone to apologize for that.

It's been quite unpleasant for some years tbh, which is why you see so many of the old-school members having moved on to better areas of the internet.
We used to have a lively and active forum of art enthusiasts here, all in it for the love of the artists and their works.
Now it's moved from 'love' to 'money' - there's a very high proportion of people here that are in it purely for the money, flipping art they don't give af about, and just trying to rip people off.
Some members call this out where it's seen, and should be applauded for it.

Merry XMas Of course you've bought it! 🤣I am just trying to sell a poster for a reasonable price and here's you and a few others on here! . Easy for you all from behind your sticky keyboards. Come on buddy chill out, I wish you sell it. Even better promote the gallery link and when they sell out, sell yours in double the price. Take care Merry Xmas and wish you luck.

I am not ripping anyone off. I am just buying at cost and selling to attempt a profit. I run a business. I offer free delivery and returns. Also provenance where I can. I get a buzz from selling anything and love the customer service and satisfaction. On here there are 'Offers'. You can either make an offer and buy something and be happy or you can just ignore it. You and your cabal of micro-offended whiners choose not to and just stir it up. As I say...you don't have to buy or GET INVOLVED. I am sure you will want the last word so off you go! Have a happy Christmas.

Hey Richy Rich (and storm breaker for 'liking' Richy Rich's post), you guys are the problem. Why would any off us support shagging over our 'pals'? There was no "undercutting". Not a person on this thread was pushing the poster they owned for a cost lower than the OP. It would be great if you guys would leave UAA and never come back. You're so vapid, you don't even understand what you said. GFY.

Our respective experiences appear to be different.
Whenever I spot a post by Richy Rich, I make sure to read it. They are consistently sharp-witted, even-handed, and rational.
The same often goes for posts by storm breaker. Usually a bit caustic, but amusingly so. And without unfairness.
To my mind, both members are assets here. They help to keep in place a system of checks and balances this platform is frequently in dire need of.
__________
You may have made some false assumptions regarding the meaning and intent of what Richy Rich wrote.
I read their post as simply a playful jab, aimed at the (apparently-oblivious) hypocrisy demonstrated here:
(a) on the one hand, Urban Art Store referencing the fact "We should be supportive of each other"; and
(b) on the other hand, Urban Art Store egregiously undercutting the pricing of a fellow forum member two months ago, in their own sales thread:
urbanartassociation.com/thread/185751/lots-sale
That point was surely worth making. And it was also a point well-made.

Especially the second paragraph — which offers both common ground and a face-saving out for your debating counterpart.

The reason I liked the post was it seems jeanmichel / Urban Art Store needs to practice what he preaches and has a selective short memory, he clearly forgets jumping into another members sale thread and undercutting them by a big chunk. Thankfully met found the thread and linked it for us all. I'd presumed Urban Art Store had deleted it to cover his tracks.

Incidentally around the same time I bought the £7500 print from UAS, only to have to have the payment refunded due to ‘stock’ issues. I was then subsequently promised by UAS that they would try and source me another print from the edition on the same terms - even saying they would take a hit on their commission to make that happen. Never heard another word but noted another print at £7500 appeared on their website/on here weeks later. That did annoy me a bit at the time - expected to at least have some comms indicating they may be in a position to help out as previously indicated. To be honest I wouldn’t consider dealing with them in the future - it’s all very well saying let’s help each other out on the forum but needs to be in practise, not just weasel words in a post…..

Jean-Michel Basquiat 🇺🇸 Brooklyn, New York • Graffiti Art , by argylepaul on Dec 13, 2023 9:49:54 GMT 1, I have posted several items for sale all at once on here. No one who is complaining at the JMP poster price seem to be bothered about the other items. Somebody on here did go on my website (anonymously) and send a mocking message though, which is rather laughable. I left my job after 29 years because I was underpaid, undervalued and forced out, but I was then lucky enough to be in a position to start an online art gallery (and a dog walking business) at the same time. The dog walking pays the bills; the gallery is drip fed and enjoyable. 101 sales since August 2021.I am very proud of myself for doing it. I have made mistakes on it and I have a bit to learn.
I want to make this clear. I do not intentionally rip anyone off. If anyone thinks they are a sheriff and wants to point out that the JMB poster is overpriced and want to 'take me down', then that is up to them. What you should have done is send me a PM and point out the Milan gallery link and suggest I should change the price a bit. I try to keep up with trends and prices elsewhere, and I didn't just bang up £350 knowing you could get it for £180 elsewhere. I do offer free delivery and returns, and there are always offers on here. £250 anyone? Happy Christmas!

My comment (as met quite correctly pointed out) was directed at another member who had been preaching supportiveness whilst not practicing it.
My two pence on the argument created by the original post is that people can sell items for any price they like. However, noses shouldn't be put out of joint when other members quite rightly point out that said items are still available at source.
UAA is a fantastic resource to be able to sell art but it is ultimately a forum so sellers should be able to digest some (constructive) feedback if they want to sell fee free.
Let this be a lesson about reading posts and comprehending them fully before accusing other of lacking 'understanding.'

What is not fine, is some people accusing me (and others) of ripping people off, which is (was) the insinuation. There is also keyboard bullying on here too. I don't take to kindly to any bullying, let's just say!
I made a genuine mistake by putting £350 on the JMB poster, when I hadn't recently checked the price or whether it had sold out. I usually do check. If I had put £250, some would still not be happy. As I said, if people are anti-capitalist and don't like others making a profit from art, or they think people are trying to rip others off, they should perhaps send a PM, rather then stir it up and get others to stir it up too.

I promise, one day, I will do something well with this. I usually get to travel a good bit and since my post (or in terms of the universe, maybe because my post) I haven't been anywhere notable. I'll slap one of those stamps on lavrov's brow if I had the chance. If you want a stamp posted on a railing near the sea in the middle of nowhere, I can accommodate that. There will be no pride or dignity in it, but to provide a faint whelp, I can do that. In days of yore, I could have put them in front of embassies and consulates, somewhere with meaning or irony, alas, I am entangled in places that are of no interest. It would be sadder and more desperate if I put them around where I am. I promise, someday, somewhere, I will make you proud. Until that day, I remain...
Could you do a couple for me?

There will be no pride or dignity in it, but to provide a faint whelp, I can do that. In days of yore, I could have put them in front of embassies and consulates, somewhere with meaning or irony, alas, I am entangled in places that are of no interest. It would be sadder and more desperate if I put them around where I am. I promise, someday, somewhere, I will make you proud. Until that day, I remain...
Could you do a couple for me?

Jean-Michel Basquiat 🇺🇸 Brooklyn, New York • Graffiti Art , by Jules Leotard on Dec 19, 2023 5:46:49 GMT 1, I am both satisfied and dissatisfied with this thread. The price was too high and the OP seems to acknowledge that. Pudding for all, on Met's tab (of course).
