BANKSY "Dismaland" in Weston-super-Mare, by Deleted on Oct 13, 2015 12:24:14 GMT 1, Is this just more branding from team Banksy.
Attaching the name to big media issues?
I'm sure the criminals in Calais will appreciate the bits of wood etc.
Maybe Banksy will let em in his trucks too.
Now then Ploppi. Stop throwing stones.
lol,
They do need sat navs though.
Some of the Calais migrants climbed into trucks and got out in Belgium.
Poor lads had to hitch hike back to Calais for another try.

Not at all.
In case you haven't noticed, I posted on other non Banksy threads also.
Post about actual art and it gets ignored. Post about the flipshop on here and if the posts are not approved by the forum PR team and get attacked.
I just gave my view on the migrants in Calais and most of them not being genuine refugees.
Plus I very much doubt that any of the Dismaland leftovers will actually get to the "jungle" camp in Calais.
You are a bitter unsuccessful artist. I bump into many in NYC, have for over 35 years now - funny when I went to type "now" btw I accidentally typed "mope". There ya go.
Typical attitude basing success on money.
You keep playing that tune.
Do you work for Banksy PR company or something?
I just posted my own opinion on the Calais migrants and mentioned it looks like Banksy the business is just branding his name on some big media issues and stories?
Clever marketing that.
There is a fine line between rasing awareness of an issue. Propaganda and self promotion linking ones name to a cause.
It's very easy to do.
It's less profitable to have an honest opinion.
By all means drive to Calais and meet these "migrants" face to face. Spend time with them and get to know them. Plus if you really want to help them, by all means give them a ride in your car to the UK.
In reality like most lefties who spout globalism is good. The reality is the opposite.
Refugees should be helped and given sanctuary in safe countries.
Ilegal immigrants are not refugees.

BANKSY "Dismaland" in Weston-super-Mare, by 11 on Oct 13, 2015 13:09:39 GMT 1, Don't know what you're implying - never even seen this Weston place Was the show any good ? I would really to meet you 11 , as Agent Provocateur... Where were you ? The opportunity to meet your good self and the delightful Nordic was half of the excitement of the final weekend so I was terribly sad to learn that WSM could not contain you anymore and you had started on your epic journey back to L-Roy Castle of the Dodcoquelicot
But one day Royston, one way or another......

The PR worked a treat.
It generated lots of news print for Banksy.
Fact is charities want money not goods. To be able to help the "migrants" properly.
Bits of wood are not helping these people as they are in a state of limbo in France.
Pressure has to be put on France to provide secure safe temporary accomodation.
France is not dealing with the situation and is entirely to blame.
The camps should be closed and safe temporary accomadation provided where migrants and refugees can be processed.
It's safer and better for all the people in these "jungle" camps.
Specially the women and the vulnerable.
www.express.co.uk/news/world/605798/Calais-Migrant-Crisis-Women-Jungle-Prostitution-Carine-Zerouali-Faustine-Douillard-France
"WOMEN living in the Calais "jungle" camp are being forced to give sexual favours to male "protectors" in return for keeping other men away.
Along with their children, the migrants reportedly have to hide in tents or stow away inside a locked detention centre to avoid being assaulted by the men around them.
There are even reports of men running prostitution rings inside the camp.
Women make up for a mere 10 per cent of migrants in the camp, leaving them feeling vulnerable in the presence of the men - forcing them to adopt the "protectors".
The 22-year-old - who is one of only 500 women at the camp - said she is "surrounded by men", making her concerned for her safety.
She said: "The people living next to us are Syrian, but we don't know the people living in the rest of the camp, they're from other countries.
"They speak different languages and have different cultures. We don't know anything about them, so we're scared and have to be on our guard."
Faustine Douillard, a social worker for France Terre d'Asile said the camp is dominated by male migrants, leaving the women at risk.
She said: "I have to go through the men to speak to the women.
"They don't know their rights and that makes them vulnerable."

BANKSY "Dismaland" in Weston-super-Mare, by .dappy on Oct 13, 2015 14:37:45 GMT 1, @elviswarhol - please stop pressing the 'return' button 3 or 4 times after every sentence and half a dozen times after every paragraph and a zillion times at the end.
It looks shรฏt, especially on a mobile, and you loose any sort of coherent thought or discussion.

BANKSY "Dismaland" in Weston-super-Mare, by sakyamuni on Oct 13, 2015 15:12:38 GMT 1, problem in Calais is not new, and the issue remain the same: you have thousands of people who want to go to England, either because they have relatives there or because they believe it will be easier to find a job there than in France. Some are asylum seekers, some are not, but they all share the same goal. They won't apply for asylum in France otherwise they won't be able to do so in UK, so they stay away from official sites. If you are there for more economical reasons, then you usually avoid official sites as the police is known to visit these places and arrest illegal immigrants to send them back to their country of origin. Most countries do the same. France is to blame (they could provide temporary sites, where individuals can then decide if they want to be officially registered or not), as well as UK (why don't they allow potential refugees to cross and let them defend their case once in the UK, like most country do when they are not located on an island ?) and most of the western countries actually (most governments are playing with the "migrant" word so that their population will think that every foreigner coming is there only to take advantage of their benefits, not to seek refuge and safety). Banksy's intentions are not clear but my guess would be mostly to shed a light on a situation that has been ongoing for more than a decade, with a UK government claiming it is France's problem when actually it is everyone's problem... Seems to me quite similar to his trip to Gaza. There might not be an easy solution but there is for sure no solution if you pretend it doesn't exist or that it is someone else's problem... Just my thoughts.

I think Banksy's point is not one of politics or which government should be taking responsibility - to me it came across as being aware of these arguments and now being drawn on who should do what.
In its simplest form there are 1000's of refugees living in squalid conditions with winter rapidly closing in - regardless of the why's and wherefores there are people suffering and dying because of appalling conditions.....in first world countries!!

No, I don't work for Banksy. But I do recognize the wit and intelligence in his work. Does he hit it out of the park every time - no. Don't think any artist does.
I see a lot of "not good" art (imho). A walk through the open studios of Bushwick can leave one shaking their head for a year, but for finding maybe a ray of light. Do I begrudge lesser talents wanting to paint, draw, sculpt or whatever? Never - freedom of expression a wonderful thing. It's been suggested by doctors as a form of therapy.
But I know many artists, some great friends, who complain about the gallery scene, rejections, pretty much everything, and whenever possible love to tear down successful artists whether Basquiat, Rothko, or Banksy to name a few.
If I was you, and I so despised Banksy (your comments on virtually every Banksy thread supporting my claim), I'd move on and not bother throwing your poison ivy bouquets. What's the point? A check of your Facebook site shows you've incorporated Banksy into your art now, in addition to a bit of Robert Indiana.
Bit stalker-ish imho.
""Furious charity pulls Calais camp funding after 'migrants BURN food and clothes'
A CHARITY has stopped providing aid to the Calais 'jungle' because aid workers have concluded the majority of migrants in the camp do not need to be there.""
www.express.co.uk/news/uk/610898/Human-Relief-Foundation-Calais-Migrant-Jungle-Kassim-Tokan
95% of Jungle migrants are FAKE, says leading charity
FEW of the migrants in Calais are genuine asylum seekers.

BANKSY "Dismaland" in Weston-super-Mare, by sakyamuni on Oct 13, 2015 16:20:45 GMT 1, thinking "simple" won't help in Calais. I am guessing there are more people living in the streets in London (or Paris) than in Calais, so if providing lodging for the winter is the main issue there are many other areas to look at. Calais is not a refugee issue, as most don't want to receive asylum in France even if they could, like they don't want to do it in Italy, Greece, Hungary and most of the European countries. Calais is the result of the European policy on asylum, the will of individuals to choose where they want to live and economical opportunities. Supplying a blanket won't change much to the situation. What they want is to cross that channel, not much else.

It looks shรฏt, especially on a mobile, and you loose any sort of coherent thought or discussion. Ploppi - please stop pressing any key on your keyboard.

BANKSY "Dismaland" in Weston-super-Mare, by daveyuk on Oct 14, 2015 17:17:08 GMT 1, This steward was brilliant on hook the duck. Her dismal attitude was fantastic. she was naughty with me and made always loose.. 2quids x... : too many quids ... She did the same to me! I got totally fleeced by her!
She said for a 'tip' she'd tell me how to win a piece of bling loot - gave her a fiver expecting change and she said - "sorry no change" then walked away! WTF could I do! (my stupidity but brought the whole experience to a down) WHO IS THIS Dismalthief ?

I shake my head every day and just wonder who these people are bidding on it all. Retro Why ? Easy ! Because they are naรฏve and new fans or " lovers " of Banksy + Dismaland/media fever.
I ve been like them : after seeing Exit 5 years ago , I bought a tenner at 560ยฃ ( yes 560 quids ) from a man froorm Weston Super Mare , lol ( as I heard here, last year it is a real one, phew) , then I bought or bid on fake street roads signs from Weston Super Mare , Bristol or Tauton ( I bought 4 and one poster at 400ยฃ quids - supposed to be - signed by Banksy at the movie festival of Berlin ! ) ..
When we don't know, we dont know. And I think that ebay or banksy or his staff or Pest Control etc.. or Those men ( Hello P. ! ) that had investigated on fake Banksy on Ebay with S.Y. 5 years ago , have a part of responsability there ! They should, I mena they had to denounce these sellers to the police ! But,they don't and they don't care because we are not talking about thousands or millions of pounds !
It is a real rob and these sellers are playing with the notoriety and love for Banksy, with the innocence of buyers ! They abuse news fans and/or kids. Shame. Big Shame !!!
