For sure better this way around. Nuart, that is quite funny. However, as everyone can see that when you photo-shopped that image onto the canvas there is a big dark rectangle around the image. Thanks for further proving that Ted's outside wall pieces were really painted. Great work.

I know he probably spent all of two minutes posting that picture and that with the proper equipment he could do a better job. However, I still think Ted did paint those walls. Time will tell and I'm sure in the future all the naysayers will be proven wrong. Until then believe what you want.

Coming to this late and didn't go through each post but my very first thought when seeing the wall images was that they were manufactured. I have been using PS since the late 90s when it first came out and usually have a pretty good feel for these things. There are a few tests that can be done to check for typical PS trickery and so I ran what I thought would be the best test on the three and voilร ! I can state that there at the very least was manipulation on these photos.
1) The first thing that threw me what how the actual painting image is just off in the setting that they are supposedly located. Lighting, luminosity and the blacks lacked a natural look in the setting that they are presented. Also for the painted image to be as illuminated at they are the immediately surrounding wall would show similar highlights and hotspots on irregular areas as well as texture. Also that these patterns appear exclusively in the black wall areas and not anywhere else where most of the PS work would have been done.
2) The light areas of black that seem to show texture, what would normally make most pass it for authentic, in these instances just didn't look right for me so I did the oldest test in the book...Crank up the levels and look for repetitive or unnatural patterns in the texture. And this is where if failed miserably. Per the two pictures below show the exact same texture mapping overlay that was used on two different images but placed in different locations and with different orientations. Also some of the flat back wall texture overlaps on the the perpendicular walls and corners without a change perspective or change in shading that they would get in the real world. A bit lazy given the amount of work that probably went into the composites in the first place but most don't expect forensic analysis of their images There are many other elements that donโt make sense in real world lighting but I think these are enough.
P.S. I did see somewhere in the posts that these images were "scanned". If so, repetitive patterns could come from elements in the scanner like dirty glass or debris in the optics but these do not look like artifacts. Also these exact same areas appear on the images on the artistโs web site so for these to be on the pictures Street Art News received then they are in the original and not from the scanning process they used.
Take from this what you will but these pictures were absolutely worked on and if someone was at the stage where they were overlaying transparent texture maps then you can assume a lot more was done as well.
Fun stuff

Additionally the marks that Black Apple Art pointed out, though they are very similar they do have different widths at each end of the mark and one has a more horizontal line going through it. I am not fully convinced. This is fun.

delete, by Agent Provocateur on May 10, 2016 13:06:09 GMT 1, Alright, I wasn't going to but sod it I'll have another little dabble, trying to keep it succinct!
I'll stick with the two pieces I looked at last time, 'Abandoned School, Sevilla 2010' and 'Old Factory, Atlanta 2012', where I highlighted the rooms were actually the same and probably a mis-titling of the files had occurred, links to my two posts below:
urbanartassociation.com/post/1487193/thread urbanartassociation.com/post/1487245/thread
Ted Pim replied to an enquiry by Poly Mindset saying he HAD labelled the images incorrectly and they WERE the same wall. Unfortunately he didn't expand and say which city (Sevilla or Atlanta) the wall was in and what years they were painted. Polymindset's post below:
urbanartassociation.com/post/1487242/thread
To cut to the chase I looked at both photos again keeping an eye out for any Photoshop jiggery pokery this time, concentrating on the Atlanta one there seems to quite a few areas that look like they could have had some manipulation. I've posted a few images below after I simply adjusted the levels (which took a few seconds).
Original 'full' image (unadjusted)
![](https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7659/26717619062_ec6aee4cb8_b.jpg) Old Factory, Atlanta 2012 by Royal Disappointment, on Flickr
Adjusted 'full' image
![](https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7538/26326789673_723736122b_b.jpg) Old Factory, Atlanta 2012 LEVELS by Royal Disappointment, on Flickr
The areas that immediately looked dodgy were the right shoulder and arm of the painted figure, left and right wall and along the top of the black paint on the back wall.
Detail of painted figure
![](https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7467/26326790363_7145575703_o.jpg) Old Factory, Atlanta 2012 LEVELS D1 by By Royal Disappointment, on Flickr
Notice the purply splurge going down the right hand side of the painted figure, how it doesn't have the same pixel noise of the black wall and is slightly blurry. This also occurs on the black background at the top of the wall with a grey colour.
Detail of right hand wall
![](https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7519/26325409884_a38e30d5c3_o.jpg) Old Factory, Atlanta 2012 LEVELS D2 by Royal Disappointment, on Flickr
The grey untextured colour is much more obvious here, very matt and flat compared to the texture of the rest of the wall. In the image of the same room (originally said to be in Sevilla) there is quite a distinctive pattern on the wall that seems to be missing.

Its just a bad blag, if they were taken with film they'd look so very different, the level of manipulation is huge.
If I'd spent days painting them I'd have close ups and all kinds of guff to shove under all of your little green eyes lids.
If I'm proven wrong theres an 80cm hand painted Martin Whatson piece in it for them from me.
Calling 100% straight bollocks on both of those images, doubt they were even painted on a wall.
Its just a bad blag, if they were taken with film they'd look so very different, the level of manipulation is huge.
If I'd spent days painting them I'd have close ups and all kinds of guff to shove under all of your little green eyes lids.

So good I'll say it twice. Its great to see that Whatson pieces are finally seeing their true value of free.

First prize, a week's vacation in Cleveland (or a free Martin Whatson).
Second prize, two week's vacation in Cleveland (or two free Martin Whatsons)

I truly hope they are on walls, and one day I might see them, he's obviously a terrific painter, but I know how long that would take to paint let alone dry, no one would knock that out, take one snap and piss off.

It's the UAA version of Making a Murderer
Just the killing/police corruption is replaced with shoddily photoshopped 'street art'

delete, by Happy Shopper on May 11, 2016 11:58:18 GMT 1, The shame of it is that a good artist could be ruined here by bad PR.
I've said this before, but why do people constantly come on here thinking they can "out smart" the forum with stupid lies, when the truth would be better!??
