Banksy Kate Moss Print, by stillborncrisps on Jan 10, 2008 20:21:34 GMT 1, Why are the Kate's not considered like a print run? Just curious - were they mega low edition, or printed differently?
How much were they when originally sold, anyone remember?

The 'Kate' prints are part of a print run, but they are particularly iconic and desirable. Low edition sizes, and large in size physically (70cm x 70cm, just like 'I Fought The Law'). They are not printed differently from, say, 'Applause'.
Original prices for the prints (not the canvases):
- Original 'Kate' (edition of 50) sold in October 2005 during the 'Crude Oils' show: £1,500 each
- 'Kate' colourways (6 different colourways, each in an edition of 20) sold in December 2005 to January 2006, initially through Santa's Ghetto 2005: £2,500 each or £12,500 for a set of 6
- 'Kate' A/Ps (12 or 14 of these) sold in February 2006 to March 2006, through Lazinc only: £4,000 each + VAT

Banksy Kate Moss Print, by almoran on Jan 14, 2008 17:08:51 GMT 1, Looking for a Kate Moss in exchange for a Jose Parla original. If anyone's sitting on one let's talk. If not interested in an original we can talk about a straight sale. Thanks!

I wouldn't think so, depending on the size of the Parla. How much are Kate's going for these days?

I certainly wouldn't think you would need to add anything to the Parla if it is a medium size canvas / wood piece.

You don't think...
Very strange, most I've seen go for well under £10,000 but they are smaller pieces I suppose. That's a bigger one... but still... maybe it's just me

Yep, they are also selling a flying copper for 20k, and a sepia morons for 5k, so their pricing is not really in touch with what is changing hands right now, look at PUD's recent acquisition for example, the above mentioned flying copper for 3.4k 3.6k!! (but, a Kate is a Kate, rare and beautiful, so who knows!)

Could be, time will tell. The reason I think that the Banksy will buy you many parla's in 20 years though is the zeitgeist of the piece, Kate moss, hijacked imagery, Banksy, the nod to Warhol all wrapped up into one priceless print for collectors nostalgic of the noughties.

I get ya. Personally, I feel the competition for Parla pieces in 20 years will be the major art museums of the world and the super-collectors/foundations. I see him as the 21st century heir to the legacies of Pollock and Twombly.

Banksy Kate Moss Print, by slowmo on Jan 14, 2008 19:06:54 GMT 1, Certainly an interesting take on his work, high accolade to put him in with Pollock, I'll be honest I have never heard of Twombly, so I'll have to look into that.
EDIT - Had a quick look and can see the Twombly influence
