Cope2 πΊπΈ New York Graffiti β’ Fernando Carlo, by Petrusino on Apr 11, 2014 13:02:33 GMT 1, Honestly I do not think Cope2 is homophobic. I think he's a graffiti legend who studied the good manners in the College of the street, in the Bronx ghettos, not at the Oxford University. However, I hope he say sorry via twitter or Instagram to anyone feels offended from his words.

Cope2 πΊπΈ New York Graffiti β’ Fernando Carlo, by Emile on Apr 11, 2014 13:07:52 GMT 1, Anyone else think the little yellow blue photo of cope2 is annoying on these pieces?
Edit: Btw.. are these comments really the definition of homophobic? He's using the words "homo" and "faggot" as interchangable with "a**hole".
I definitely see why this is wrong and hurtful and im also not trying to defend it/him. Just wondering whether cope2 is aware of the implications his comments have.

Um......yes. It's offensive, meant to be offensive, and just an all around negative word. In my opinion, I can't ever think of a situation where it would be ok to use it.

And if he used the n-word, it wouldn't be racist?
For the record, he has and does. And it is racist. I've seen his posts on Instagram. One guy wrote something to the effect of "Great work man. Too expensive for me." And he replied with "Fuck you, you broke ass n-----r. Get a fucking job." He deleted it a few minutes later, but the guy he was talking to was black. From what I can tell, Cope2 is a piece of shit on many levels.

Cope2 πΊπΈ New York Graffiti β’ Fernando Carlo, by Petrusino on Apr 11, 2014 13:38:49 GMT 1, I would like to know if the guy he has offended is gay or not; if that guy is not gay, it is possible that Cope2 has chosen only a bad wrong word to offend an heterosexual. However I enjoy his art, and I hope he apologizes

I don't know what good an apology would do. He's constantly saying homophobic and racist stuff online. And he's often called out for doing it. Yet he keeps right on doing it. At the end of the day, he is who he is.

You seem a little clueless....
I'm not sure if the guy was gay or not, or if they were offended. I can't speak for other folk. However, I can say that I am offended. And to me...that's what matters.

here's how it works in 2014 (and the last 5-10 years) - whether the guy Cope2 is referring to is gay or not means nothing. these words are used as hate words, to weaken. they are used by people of limited intelligence. and generally those who use them with the frequency of Cope2 are usually on the DL, ashamed of their own true sexuality.
there is no excuse to use these words. ever.

In my humble opinion, it doesn't make a difference. Using the word faggot as an insult, directed at whomever, is homophobic and, in my opinion, offensive.

Cope2 πΊπΈ New York Graffiti β’ Fernando Carlo, by nrgball on Apr 11, 2014 15:31:29 GMT 1, The truth is that in this day and age his behavior is inexcusable. The rest of the truth is that we have no clue as to the world that this man came from. He obviously hold a tremendous amout of rage. It most likely comes from experiences that most of us have had the privilege of avoiding in our lives. I feel sorry for this man. He has to live with himself.
Aesthetically I think his work is very strong. Personally, I'm done with collecting it. To each their own.

I also doubt Shepard Fairey spends much time reading comments on Instagram. Or that it comes up in conversation. He probably doesn't know. And given Shep's track record, I doubt he would have worked with him if he did know.

Once you reach a certain age, some behavior is never acceptable and you're old enough to have learned that no matter where you come from.
