true, and in fairness, for some people an extra couple grand makes no difference.

wish i had sold some of my prints at auction though, man, that's crazy. have no idea how much the seller nets though

This will avoid the 'xx sold at Auction for xx' posts we will now be seeing over the coming months.

If a signed VM sold for £3.5k - after fees the seller might have received £2.7k (for arguments sake as I have no idea of commission rates and vat etc.. at auction)

This would be a better price to quote / compare future sales at?

Personally I think quoting any last sale as a guide doesn't really work, especially with a crazy result like this !... thats how bubbles are made. Things like this show just how easy it is to manipulate the market.

A mate of mine works at an auction house and says the big ones charge the seller up to 20% of the hammer price, unless they're regular customers or have a particularly desirable piece, in which case it's lower.

So the seller of the CND got atleast £8,800, probably more, but still a bit less juicy than if you just read the hammer price.

What with the 25% buyers rate on the hammer price too the auction houses must absolutely rake it in!!

It will be interesting to see what heavy weaponry will fetch, price guide £25k/£35k + buyers premium+ vat, newart-online have one with an asking price of£32k inclusive. I'm guessing could be bought for mid-late twenties before the auction. We shall see!

Im guessing HW still goes for around the 30k mark plus buyers premium etc etc and I would be very surprised if it went for alot less than that , going on the strong prices we have seen. If Newart still have this piece available it seems cheap as I know Laz has one at 50k.

I would expect GWB to go anywhere from 40-50k plus premiums etc !!

There only my guesses though !!!
