Bonhams • Art Auctions • London 🇬🇧, by Shoot Again on Sept 22, 2011 8:42:16 GMT 1, Speaking of an artist that hasn't been very popular on this Forum when I dared to ask some info on him, Rich Simmons, looks like his piece has done quite well (£10K vs estimates ~ £4K-6K)... any thoughts ?
Lot 42 : Will Fight Crime for Food signed with the artist's monogram on the reverse stencil spray paint on board 90 by 161 cm. 35 7/16 by 63 3/8 in.
Sold for £10,000 inclusive of Buyer's Premium

Bonhams • Art Auctions • London 🇬🇧, by Zippy on Sept 22, 2011 9:31:01 GMT 1, Interesting that I now get the PM's re a CND ;D
But seriously, shouldn't someone post the figures that the sellers receive net of fees and vat etc.. ?
This will avoid the 'xx sold at Auction for xx' posts we will now be seeing over the coming months.
If a signed VM sold for £3.5k - after fees the seller might have received £2.7k (for arguments sake as I have no idea of commission rates and vat etc.. at auction)
This would be a better price to quote / compare future sales at?
Just IMO of course

some weird prices there, Faile og's seemed a little cheap although i dont really keep too much of an eye on them tbh. Anyone know what the reserve on the Beej canvas was?

He's 25, I wish I had such rich friends when I was his age ;-) Could the fact that Opera Gallery is representing him be part of the explanation ?

Tell you what bet the fella who sold it was happy what a great deal for him/her
Must have been a couple of clowns on the bidding but each to their own and hey if they are happy with it.
To outlandish I think to affect prices but interesting all the same.

Bonhams • Art Auctions • London 🇬🇧, by Deleted on Sept 22, 2011 11:18:33 GMT 1, There are plenty of people that want a signed Banksy, and for them the most secure way of getting it is via an auction house. It gives them legitimacy and peace of mind.
It is also a direct way of receiving it. You bid, you pay, you collect. Simple. ( Unlike trying to do deals on here at times. )
