I got the impression it was to do with buying art now by Seife before prices went up.

Lots of artists appropriate images and change them around a bit or not.

Caravaggio has been copied for centuries and his art used by other artists.

Manet copied artists to create some of his paintings altho he did change them enough to modernise the art for his time.

The Penguin book cover paintings are similar.

and the king of appropriation is probably Glenn Brown.

It's fantastic and I would love to buy a similar piece by Jason, but after reading all the problems other members have had with Jason it sounds like he doesn't know how the treat his customers, in this business you're up s**t creek when you get bad customer service reviews considering people have to trust you with thousands of dollars.

Posterbob is trying to be funny.  He is referring to the fact that the subject matter of Jason Seife's art is never really 'modern'.   It could more acurately be referred to as antique.  

There are other reasons people on here avoid JS...lots of very bad experiences with commissions.

Correct the piece I have was commissioned by a forum member a long while ago and it was not the smoothest transaction 😂

I have had dealings with Jason in the past, he still owes me a painting which I have just written off and told him to forget about, he didn't even reply to that email, I would not recommend dealing direct with him and go through the galleries.

I have three older works by him, none of with are his new carpet style
