Very happy to get my teal book poster in a frame. Just waiting on the second frame to arrive to get the orange version up on the opposite side of the window. The room's too messy to show anything beyond this area of space.

I know where he came from and what he stands for and I salute the bloke for where he has got himself today.. But I don't see the art...
It's simplistic, no skill needed and can be totally open ended as there are so many variations that can be done.
I'm genuinely baffled.

Just search the threads for Stik and you will see this has been debated many times!!! Splits opinion on here...

Have you had a chance to look through a good amount of his street work yet? If you are judging it by the prints and posters then I can understand your opinion, but when you look at the context of his street art shown in the book, you might have a different take on it.

I keep falling into the trap of posting on this thread, as I've said the same thing at least once before... People like this work because its happy, fun, cute, simple etc... so they love it.
However in terms of a critical appraisal of the work; it is derivative, poorly executed and lacking innovation. In the hands of some artists stick figures have been used very cleverly and originally but in this case, not so much. Simplicity in art can be sublime when its done with flair and artistry and a range of meanings and symbolism - Matisse, Léger, Haring... etc. But Stik's stuff is clearly not in the same class. Anyway each to their own - I am posting on the wrong thread because this is for the love. I like to be encouraging to all artists, be kind to all people and at the same time, if artist's are willing to listen to constructive criticism then it is good to give them a bit of honesty and a reality check...
If this were one of my art students I would encourage them to develop their draughtsmanship beyond their current stylistic limits, not to copy but innovate, experiment and develop a greater sensitivity to colour, consider more interesting and harmonious compositions and use idea generation techniques to bring about a greater level of creative content.SaveSave

I sent it to a gallery where stik was showing at the time and asked if he would sign it. The gallery lost it however about a year later it came back signed with a letter. Its sitting on top on a wardrobe and i was wondering of its value.

in crappy condition and someone here would offer you the lower end because they still want it on the wall
in great condition and you just want to make some money, put it on eBay for the higher end
somewhere inbetween put it in the 'for sale' thread and see what happens

I think it would look great in a white frame with a black mat. Right now my frame is black, but I may paint it.

Is there any news on the next print? I read somewhere a while back there was going to be a New York print? Or have I made that up?
