Bambi π¬π§ Street Art β’ Print Release β’ Art For Sale, by Deleted on Apr 30, 2013 20:52:50 GMT 1, Dont know either of those VL, however by the very fact that we are discussing her / them or it it means the promotion wagon has rolled out i suppose, all fair enough, IMO though the artwork itself is very poor, dated as well but predominently very very poor.
Poor Bambi, i hope that she or it or whatever doesnt start believing in the hype.

Bambi π¬π§ Street Art β’ Print Release β’ Art For Sale, by aj2010 on Apr 30, 2013 23:01:53 GMT 1, She/They are obviously being bankrolled big time to get this amount of publicity. Either that or it is some stunt for a TV show, as everyone has commented, the work is very poor.

Bambi π¬π§ Street Art β’ Print Release β’ Art For Sale, by freakinstyle on May 1, 2013 8:52:30 GMT 1, Yes, we should ignore this, don't buy it and explain to the less informed how these things work. BUT I do give a shit! It makes me angry to know that this works, that people believe this hype and see no way to make up their own mind and follow this system/machine. ....it means that artists, if you actually can call them that, with big marketing backing them up are more successful in terms of money. They take in the space of artists that actually make good stuff. A pound spent on Bambi can't be spend on a different artist.
By the way, if Bambi is a woman, the name itself explain their motives. Bambi in the film was a man, bit strange. So seems to me that the name had to resonate with that of Banksy.
Wasted to much time on this.....pfff

Bambi π¬π§ Street Art β’ Print Release β’ Art For Sale, by Strange Al on May 1, 2013 8:57:34 GMT 1, The PR machine is certainly in overdrive and, as others have said, following the Brainwash model.
Based on Lenny's clues in the article, seems they're hinting at Bambi being Paloma Faith (who was apparently born in Hackney, has Italian heritage, went to St Martins, worked at Agent Provocateur, etc). Though whoever Bambi actually is, the speculation and supposed celebrity association certainly doesn't hurt when you have paintings to sell.
I actually find both Brainwash and Bambi interesting and don't mind discussing them, because they epitomise what underpins much of the commercial street art scene now and mirror society more generally. That's part of the reason Brainwash made such an interesting subject for ETTGS.
Though wholly agree that there are countless artists out there more deserving of the exposure.

Bambi π¬π§ Street Art β’ Print Release β’ Art For Sale, by Dr Plip on May 1, 2013 9:33:44 GMT 1, This is all a load of horse doo-doo.
If Bambi likes her identity hidden, it's surprising that her agent is going out of his way to drop clues about her background and implying that she's a famous pop star. That would be like POW saying about Banksy:
"He's got blonde hair. Went to St Jude's school for girls, but he wasn't supposed to. Drives a Mini Cooper. Likes Stella Artois. He painted Brad and Angelina's living room........two coats! Oh and he's got blue eyes and he's called Dave. But he likes to keep his identity secret."
This sounds more like they thought "This isn't working. Maybe they'll buy this if we pretend she's famous? People like famous. They buy sh_t from famous. Brilliant! Let's drop hints that will never be confirmed or denied"
This bollocks of donating art to celebrities and then leaking to the press that they are collectors of your work is garbage. Yes, I suppose if you leave a painting outside Harry Styles front door, and he picks it up and moves it, technically he's collected it. But this isn't about art anymore, it's about how people are lead by rumour, hype, and advertising. Oh and the cult of celebrity. It doesn't matter whether it's any good, just is the right celebrity associated with it.
A few quotes from the Bambi article in the Sun:
"Her alias comes from her childhood nickname β her father called her βBambinoβ as a child."
Really? Hell I thought it was chosen because it sounds like Banksy.
"Her urban art has seen her dubbed βthe female Banksyβ and attracted legions of celebrity fans."
Legions? Again really? Without articles in the Sun and Daily Mail, I doubt she'd even attract Legionnaires Disease.
βIn the back of my mind there was always this unfulfilled passion, my big love, which is painting, so I turned to that five years ago. When I started trading, the works on paper were around Β£400, now theyβre Β£5,000. The paintings sell for up to six figures."
I got the impression that your big love was money and Heat magazine? After 5 years of work out there, there should be quite a few of these Bambi originals knocking about. Where are they? All these legions of celebrity fans keeping their prized Bambi's hidden from us. Shame
βI respect Banksy and know him well, but my inspiration is Andy Warhol. He was obsessed with celebrity culture and thatβs what I am interested in."
That's coming across loud and clear.
βSo far my collectors have been rich, but I want everyone to have one of my prints β from students to oil moguls.β
That's funny. Banksy started at the bottom but eventually began selling to wealthier clients. It appears Bambi is going the other way. Selling to the rich, but now wanting to do something for the little people.
"Of all her celebrity admirers, the artist was most excited by David Beckhamβs desire to own a Bambi β so much so she let the footballer have one for free."
Yup. Give your art to a celeb and claim they own your work. It's really that easy folks.
She said: βBeckham is our greatest ambassador β a unique figure who women want to sleep with and men want to be."
Jesus H. Christ.
βHeβs made British people feel good about themselves."
Do you go out much?
"Bambi says: βI also have a commission to do a portrait of Angelina Jolie."
Really? From whom? Your agent?
Speaking of Lenny, I like this quote from him:
βHer favourite designer is Vivienne Westwood and sheβs into sexy lingerie, because Iβve seen bags of Agent Provocateur in her car."
You're supposed to be her agent you creepy f_cker, what the hell are you doing going through her shopping bags in her car for? What artist agent worth his salt tells people you're into sexy lingerie? Is this Bambi or Rolf Harris??
And then there's the usual (almost identical) hype comments from Walton at the bottom of every Bambi article. Blah blah blah.
I like street art. I'd say I love it. I love art in general. I dislike that through media manipulation and lies, a lot of people will believe that this is street art at its finest.
This is horses**t of the finest order.
If you go to "her" website and read the fine print regarding editions, copyrights (HA!), prosecutions, retailers, certificates of authenticity, etc, you'll see what this is all about....................money. Whoop-de-doo.
I'm sorry for clogging up this art forum with more Bambi-related f_ckery. This is my last post on her and her spin monkeys.

Bambi π¬π§ Street Art β’ Print Release β’ Art For Sale, by ilmambo on May 1, 2013 10:05:46 GMT 1, I hope you Nowergians won't hype Bambi up like you did with Dolk... He isn't hyped, he has gradualy worked his way up since 2000 when Banksy visited his hometown Bergen..
Well until late 2011 (or maybe it was early 2012 already?) Dolk had a good fanbase but few of his older prints were still available at source. then many of you norwegians caught up with his works, paying crazy amounts for prints that just a few weeks earlier struggled to sell for a fraction of that price, with Dolk hitting the frontpage of local newspapers and other articles giving attention to his works and claiming it was great for investment and all that... in just a matter of months his prices (both on primary and secondary market) rocketed up, not really a gradual way up, considering he's been around since 2000.
maybe you didn't hype him up, but definitely you norwegians helped him a lot in the past year and half.

do the same for Banksy's site and Pest Control Office Limited comes up, with "The registrant is a non-trading individual who has opted to have their address omitted from the WHOIS service"

Bambi π¬π§ Street Art β’ Print Release β’ Art For Sale, by Deleted on May 3, 2013 5:31:22 GMT 1, Well if it is Lilly Allen I can see the link between the 'talent' she displays in her songs and her art, I mean come on if her dad wasn't who he is would we have heard of her!
If people want to buy this tripe then that's up to them but when I hear newspapers refer to her as 'the female Banksy' then it does kinda **ss me off as it just cheapens the whole street art scene and his talent.
